Here is one I have not seen mentioned here. She was the one caught with pot with Robert Mitchum. He did his time as she did the arrest was all over the papers and you would think that both careers are over but he came out better that ever and she lost everything why do you think that happened

Gorgeous Hollywood starlet-turned Skid Row hooker-turned-evangelist Lila Leeds would have been 83 today.

She was actress Barbara Payton's best friend in Hollywood and their antics back in the 1950s and 60s make Amy Winehouse, Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton look like cloistered nuns.

Lila Leeds (born Lila Lee Wilkinson January 28, 1928 in Dodge City, Kansas, died September 15, 1999) was an American film actress. She was married to actor, composer, singer and conductor Jack Little. She gained notoriety for being arrested together with actor Robert Mitchum on charges of marijuana possession on September 1, 1948. She subsequently spent some months in jail. Although she starred in She Shoulda Said No! following her release from prison, her acting career never really recovered from the episode.
Cheryl Crane, daughter of Lana Turner, in her autobiography, stated that Leeds was introduced to heroin use while in jail and became a full-blown addict afterwards, and was last heard from working in a drug rehabilitation facility in the mid-1970s.
According to the Social Security Death Index Lila W. Leeds died September 15, 1999.

People like Lila Leeds and Barbara Payton deserve much more pity than trash like Lindsay Lohan. There was no help for wayward starlets of the 1940s and 50s...just degradation and dersion.

Mindless little twits like Lohan and Britney Spears, et al., have all the medical and psychological help they need at their disposal, but they care so little about the immense GIFTS they have been given, they keep carrying on like self-centered little jerks. It's infuriating.

Very well said! Those jagoffs irritate the holy hell out of me, especially Lohan. She continously tries to garner public symapthy for being a complete jackass and acts like her brand of suffering is just the very worst. Why everyone keeps saying she's talented is beyond me. She was a decent child actress, but that talent never transitioned to adulthood IMHO.

As for Lila, I just finished watching one of her last films "She Shoulda Said No!", and she was pretty good in it. It's complete schlock of course, but you could tell she had talent. Aside from that, she was an absoulte knockout. It's really too bad the double standard of Hollywood back in the day totally ruined her career.

Just terrible how her life went down because of a plant.... its so senseless these laws... It kills 100% less people than the junk she got in her veins in prison. Should have been sentenced to rehab instead.
