Herbert Ross, Dir. Steel Magnolias, Footloose, Boys on the Side

I did a search & found no mention of Herbert Ross anywhere on the forum.
He directed many great films.....including "The Owl & The Pussycat", "Funny Lady", & "The Goodbye Girl"..........but none as as important (in my mind) as "Steel Magnolias". He was also briefly married to Lee Radziwill (sister to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis) his last direction was for "Boys On the Side".

I loved both movies & only recently discovered that Ross is not so recently departed.
I watched the "extras" on my Steel Magnolias dvd the other night & began to research.

Hi LemonPopsicle! Yes, the extras on the DVD are well worth the upgrade from your weathered vhs....no doubt it is almost as shot as mine was before I got the DVD.

Wow-didnt even know he died. I met him briefly in St Barths when he was married to Lee. Everyone always said he was gay so maybe thats why she was hitting on my husband back then? Anyway, loved his movies

Steel Magnolias is a "hate to love it" movie for me. I know it by heart but am bitter about it. I think because I find Sally Field annoying when she plays Southern.
