Just remembered a story about Robert and Natalie.

A friend of my sister's was hired to build a Gazebo on the Wagner
property and he told my sister that Robert and Natalie were
really cool people! By that I mean really sweet.

Does anyone have any insight into her alleged rape when she was 15?

Heard Kirk Douglas been mentioned a few times, only came across it by chance, can't ever remember hearing anything about this in the u.k media.

Is this common knowledge in the states and has Kirk Douglas or his family ever made any comments?

    Thanks Guys

I don't believe it was Kirk Douglas. He played a rapist goodguy (it was the early 60s when a couple of drinks excused everything) in a John Wayne moview about the battle of midway. He was a Navy officer who raped a young nurse who committed suicide over it and he felt so gulity he volunteered for a suicide mission and died a hero. It was a simpler time then.
The book that talks about the rape is said to have a bunch of inaccracies in it.
I really can't see Kirk Douglas doing this but then I certainly don't know the man.
    Regards,
    Mary

I know what you mean Sam. It was so senseless and to this day, so many questions unanswered. What a waste
I would love it if RJ and Christopher Walken would talk and tell the truth of what happened that night.

She is one actress that has represented some of the best childhood memories, "Miracle on 54th..", the best teenaged angst and emotion of what it is like to be a woman.....Some of the greatest parts. She really is an underestimated actress.....I can't get over this pic of her in 1953 on Wiki..

This picture is from 1953-54 at which time the studio had her dye her hair blonde in order to play VIRGINIA MAYO'S character when she was younger in the stinker
THE SILVER CHALICE; the film was so bad that lead actor PAUL NEWMAN took out a full page (apology) ad years later in 1966 when it was first broadcast on tv.

I agree, with those beautiful brown eyes, blond just doesn't mesh.

OMG, 71???? Wonder what she would have looked like, had done if she had lived to 71?? I'll bet she would have had an Oscar by now, that is for sure.....

Wonder if RJ celebrates her birthday?? Or their anniversary on July 16 for that matter.....

Unbelievable, but 71! I sometimes wonder if she would have looked anything ever the way she did in the bank robbery scene in Penelope. As for RJ...don't get me started.

I read RJ's book, Pieces of My Heart. Rapid, easy read of old Hollywood stars. No doubt Natalie was his soul mate. He explains the events surrounding her death.

I think that night unfolded very differently. There is a new book out called Goodbye, Natalie, Good-bye Splendour about that last night written by the boat's captain. Can't wait to get my hands on it!

It looks like a good read and an interesting contrast to the RJ's mellow and subdued bio.

Brief mention of the new book to be released. I think I'll place Finstad's book on my list to read, Natasha, the bio of Natalie Wood.

Stupid joke, I hate it. Actually she WAS floating.

Suzanne Finstad's book is very good. The one Gavin Lambert wrote is the one I'd bypass.

I really like that film, "Love With the Proper Stranger." I think Steve McQueen was her best co-star.
