    Murder of Joel Kirkpatrick

The victim's mother said the child was killed by an intruder. She was convicted, found not guilty on retrial, and eventually formally exonerated by the court.

The case is similar to the Mickey Bryan case, specifically in that she was convicted based partially on blood spatter evidence.

The Bryan case is refernced in the article. The article I linked in the Bryan thread was also published by the New York Times Magazine.

Apparently the NYT Magazine is really on a mission to discredit the "science" behind blood spatter analysis.

I read it the other day, disturbing.
Today you could be standing next to someone who is trying their best not to fall apart. So whatever you do today, do it with kindness.

One thing I felt was missing from the story (or maybe I read it too quickly): Did anybody ask the mother if the guy who confessed if he resembled the intruder she fought?
