How did you find FAD?

Just wondering how the rest of you found FAD?

I was looking for more info on Albert Dekker's death. One Google search later, I found a treasure trove of info about Big Bad Al and several more celebrities.

Great site, Scott. One of these days I'm coming out to L.A. for your tour.

I was looking for actual pics of the Mason murders, many moons ago and that is how I found it. All I thought at the time was " Where the heck does he get these pics?" Love it!

Found Scott's site while looking up celebrity deaths. His is the best by far. And his sense of humor, well, let's just say he's like me in that regard. Best of the Web, that's for sure.

Pretty much the same way as most of you, I was at work bored and did a surf for celebrity "dead" photo's and came across FAD. I check it out all the time now and have told many people about it!
Scott is awesome!! And he even answers his own emails!!

I really don't recall what I must have googled to come up with it, but I'm so glad I did! As I mentioned on another thread, I was working night shifts a little over 5 years ago at a computer lab so unless someone had an IT problem, I basically got to sit around and play Contra and search the web, so FAD helped me pass maaaany nights (and still does, even without that job!)

I used to love anomalies-unlimited.com but it hadn't been updated in a while. I was trying to find what happened and did a google search on it. I found a website with a link to anomalies and a link to FAD. I was hooked by Scott's sense of humor and the fact that it's not a gross out site like Rotten. if I don't want to look at a picture I don't have to. I'm so hooked on this site it's not even funny.

I think I found this in 1999. I think it was a pretty new site. At first I thought it kind of odd.

It was interesting reading John Denver being fish food after the crash. It was like the first story I read!

And yes if anything the dearly departed tour is a pretty cheap price wise...you didn't hear that scott!!!

it was worth the $35 dollars!!!

There's a BBC show called 'Click' in the UK, which discusses the internet and tekky stuff. Each week they profile a few interesting websites, and a few years back it mentioned The Death Clock, which estimates how long you've got left to live (tick tock).

Anyway, it also linked to the FAD pages - I read most of them in one sitting! I didn't know it but (at the time) it only linked to a few of the actual entries. I hit the jackpot when I discovered the true number on the FAD website and I've been hooked ever since!!

I have been veiwing FAD for about a year now, and everyone who is in my buddy list, got the link from me. I got many freinds addicted , just like me. I tend to check the site everyday for someone new. If anyone doesn't know about it already there is a site you can go to called the celebrity death beeper. It sends you an email of whenever a celebrity dies, even if you don't hear about it in the news. Heres the link

It was several years ago, I was looking up some celebrity that had recently passed away & Scott's site popped up (aren't we all conected with this morbid facination? lol) . I remember thinking why on earth didn't I know about this site earlier??!. I spent the day reading everything on it and some things twice. I love Scott's wicked wicked humor!

In addition, this has become my filter for celebrity deaths, if it's not on Scott's site then they aren't really dead! lol

I got curious about Andy Kaufman after watching "Man in the Moon" a few years ago so I started surfing the net for more info about him. I came across a copy of his death certificate and fell face first into FAD- been there ever since. Great site!
For those of you who who have commented on Scott's sense of humor on the site, try hanging out with him in person on his Tour. He's a freakin' riot, not to mention a great guy. Get to California and TAKE THE TOUR!!! For those of you in California and haven't been, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR???!!!

I was trying to find info on Houdini, namely what hospital in Detroit he had been in and voila, I found FAD and I've been an addict ever since.

What are your favorites? I love the GG Allen one, Jayne Mansfield (man, was she a trainwreck), Gilda always gives me tears. Tammy Wynette cracks me up, her loony husband and his knocked up cheerleader next wife.

It really is like an addiction. As soon as I hear someone died, thats the first place I look. Minor thing though...didn't there used to be more celebs? Could have sworn I saw some listed that aren't listed anymore.
The survival of everyone on board depends on just one thing: finding someone on board who can not only fly this plane, but who didn't have fish for dinner.

probably on one of my many morbid internet searches. though now i can't remember. but as soon as i found it i forgot what i was looking for and just started *digging up* all the stories about random dead celebrities. it was like a breath of fresh air to find so many interesting stories about things i was fascinated with.

to this day i can still go back and re-read stories and be totally entranced. it's the "other man" in my life

Great question!!

I was bored at work several years ago and searched a celeb on Yahoo. FAD came up. I spent the next few days reading Every single word of the website. I could tell right away that Scott is a cool guy with a great sense of humor. I was hooked.

I found fad about 4 or 5 years ago while looking at either death pics of river phoenix or chris farley... I hate that I can't remember who, but I know it was one of those two. At the time I had just started college and was working at the library with lots of time to kill! between fad and nataliedee.com my nights at the library were quite filled for the first few months! Anyone else here from Georgia?

I was Googling something back in 2005. I have no idea what I was looking for, but for a solid week after the 'find', I was hooked and read EVERY single thing here. I have to admit that after I came to the end of what was available at the time, I was anxious for the next celebrity death!!! It's like the site that keeps on giving. I also am a big fan of Scott and find his writing hilarious at times, especially when he mentions La Liz sending flowers! Har! Scott, did you catch her on The Soup this past weekend?

I did a google image search for the Chris Farley pictures, and I followed the link. I was instantly addicted. As much as Liza is to pills. Anyways i spent 3 days reading every story. You are one lucky bastard Scott. I wish I lived in L.A. There is history around every corner it seems. BTW the forum is great too. Thanks

I can't remember now - probably Googling something or someone. All I know is once I found it and started reading it bacame a regular part of my routine. Some really funny, off the wall stuff. I even got my sister hooked on the site and we both picked up the expression, "As you do." - kind of like one of those lines from a favorite film.
