What song scared you as a kid.

For me it was Paul Mcartney's Live and let Die that song use to scare the bejesus out of me.the beginning of the movie was no better but i heard the song first to a film clip base on the volences in america and there were hangings, shootings,MLK and JFK assassinations and it just scare me and that song shook me up until my early adult hood now its one of my favorite songs.

Damn! ScottyMonger beat me to it. D. O. A. That song came out when I was like ten, and it absolutely terrified me. I still can't listen to it without wigging slightly out. Knights In White Satin by the Moody Blues scared me if they played the "complete" version, where he does the poem (?) at the beginning. Hell, the whole song's weird as fuck. I like it but it used to completely scare me out of my mind and they ALWAYS played it late at night. Bad vibes for a ten or eleven year old!

    "Timothy" by The Buoys.....1971
For anyone who is unfamiliar with the song....it was written by Rupert Holmes (who was in a much happier frame of mind when he wrote "Escape:The Pina Colada Song) and it's about trapped miners who resort to cannibalism. I was 7 when I first heard it, so it had to be explained to me....which is what big brothers are for....to scare the living poop out of me!!!

I had so totatally forgotten about that song. You are right that was a bad one, at least it was when it was explained to me.
    Rupert Holmes wrote that? (grin...)

This is really REALLY weird.....that old song "I saw mommy kissing santa claus" I used to scream and cry as a kid when I heard it. I think Santa reminded me of an evil clown.

Don't Fear the Reaper gives me the willies even today.

"I love the dead" Alice Cooper/Billion Dollar Babies. Bought the album when i was about 14 lyrics intrigued me.

'I love the dead before theyre cold
Theyre bluing flesh for me to hold
Cadaver eyes upon me see nothing
I love the dead before they rise
    No farewells, no goodbyes
I never knew your rotting face
While friends and lovers mourn your silly grave
I have other uses for you, darling
    I love the dead
    I love the dead, yeah'

Don't forget to check in the shower, too! @_@

I like that song. It's: "Somebody's Watching Me" by Rockwell.

For some reason, I like to play it during the last mile or so of the ride when I come home late (2 or 3 am) and the streets are dark......and dead. "When I come home at night..."

Anyway, here's the video for the song:

Are you thinking of the scream at the beginning of "Love Rollercoaster" by the Ohio Players? If so, that's an urban legend: http://www.snopes.com/music/hidden/roller.asp.

Two different Beatles songs used to scare me:

"#9 Revolution" -- probably because of all of the weird sound effects and random phrases
"Tomorrow Never Knows" -- the creepy sound that I learned later was the result of playing Paul McCartney's laugh backwards (not as scary after that)

Someone already mentioned it, but Vincent Price's spoken part in "Thriller" scared the crap out of me...I thought the video was pretty scary too as a kid.

Ohhh...And even though I was a little older, Metallica's "Enter Sandman"! I still get creeped out when I hear the "Hush little baby..." part!

I can really understand that song being scary to a kid. The intro and music itself sounds sort of haunting and meloncholoy, don't you think? And then he yowls "I ammmmmmmm" or whatever there at the end. Yeah, that could be creepy..

I like the song though. It's on my Ipod!

When I was a kid, I read some story about backmasked messages in rock music, and it scared the bejesus out of me every time I heard one of those songs. The ones that (allegedly) had backmasked messages were "Revolution #9," Pink Floyd's "The Wall," "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin, and whichever Beatles song was supposed to have the "Paul is Dead" message backwards (was it Revolution #9 or Day in the Life? don't remember now!!). The whole thing just gave me the creeps.

It was a novelty song from 1966 by a guy calling himself Napoleon XIV (real name Jerry Samuels)

    Remember when you ran away
And I got on my knees
And begged you not to leave
    Because I'd go beserk

    Well you left me anyhow
And then the days got worse and worse
And now you see I've gone
    Completely out of my mind

And they're coming to take me away ha-haaa
They're coming to take me away ho ho hee hee ha haaa
    To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see those nice young men
    In their clean white coats
And they're coming to take me away ha haaa

You thought it was a joke
    And so you laughed
    You laughed when I said
That losing you would make me flip my lid

    Right? You know you laughed
I heard you laugh. You laughed
You laughed and laughed and then you left
But now you know I'm utterly mad

And they're coming to take me away ha haaa
They're coming to take me away ho ho hee hee ha haaa
To the happy home with trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they're coming to take me away ha haaa

    I cooked your food
    I cleaned your house
And this is how you pay me back
For all my kind unselfish, loving deeds
    Ha! Well you just wait
They'll find you yet and when they do
They'll put you in the A.S.P.C.A.
    You mangy mutt

And they're coming to take me away ha haaa
They're coming to take me away ha haaa ho ho hee hee
To the funny farm where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see those nice young men
    In their clean white coats

And they're coming to take me away

I think we have the same song. Its called "Black Sabbath" Its off of their first album. Even though it gave me nightmares I would still listen to it. I remember being 6 years old and sneaking into my brothers room while he was at school and putting it on. Even the cover would scare me. It had a green witchy lookin woman on the front.I would close my eyes when I would pull the record out of the sleeve. To me that album was the birth of Heavy Metal.

The first one is Don't Fear The Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult. I much prefer Godzilla....

KISS scared the living Jesus out of me when I was a kid. I was very small in the late 70s, since I was born in 1975, after all, so you know, you have these dudes dressed in their freaky outfits, with their makeup on, with the pyrotechnics, well....not a good scene!

But then, I was the kid who freaked out whenever The Incredible Hulk came on television, too.
