2 women, 2 children murdered in Troy NY

One of the worst non-firearm-related murders in recent memory-- a 36-year-old woman, her 11-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter, and the mother's 22-year-old girlfriend, were found dead, bound and with their throats slashed in Troy, NY. Shanta Myers, her children Jeremiah and Shanise, and Brandi Mells were found in Myers's apartment on Dec. 26, but were estimated to have been dead since Christmas night. Myers's eldest son, Isaiah, 15, was away in Massachusetts at the time and expressed fear that "they" would "get him too."

Two suspects, at least one with a criminal history and one who knew the family (no word yet on which one) have been arrested. Motives for the gruesome killings has not yet been determined.

Depends. If they were targeted BECAUSE they were lesbians, it would qualify as a hate crime.

I tend to think that pretty much all cold-blooded and execution-style murders are hate crimes of a sort.
