If you've watched pretty much any of the Criterion Collection of films, or are just an avid film buff in general, chances are you recognize this logo:
William Becker, a theater critic who acquired Janus Films in 1965 and turned it into a powerhouse of cinema classics, has died at the age of 88.

The films that Janus helped make available - and popular - include Renoir's The Grand Illusion, Eisenstein's The Battleship Potemkin, Welles' Citizen Kane and the original King Kong. Directors represented in Janus' collections include Fellini, Bergman, Antonioni, Truffaut, Bunuel, Kurasawa and Bresson.
