Hi Ria, Hope your girls night is a success
    Fruit kebabs sound really good.
I don't know about anyone else here but, Summertime is a time of year where I binge on all the available fruits & Veggies- especially if I can get a deal on them...Our farmers markets around here are waaay overpriced..
Watermelon is my all time favorite and I am happy as can be when I have that & a fruit plate of strawberries, pears, peaches, etc. Corn on the cob runs a close second for veggies...Summer foods are my favorite- But Autumn is my favorite time of year.

It should be a success, the first one was a HUGE success. SO huge that I have decided to host a girl's night once a month. The girls attending vary each time, the first time it was girls from McD's. Current and former coworkers. The next one, might be the same. After that, probably McD's and Freddy's girls together. Or at least one girl from Freddy's. I've made a new "work bestie." She does not replace the OLD "work bestie," though.

Summer is such a great time for buying fresh fruits and veggies. I pack my lunch at least 4 days a week, buying only once. I take veggie wraps/pitas, fresh fruit, hardboiled eggs for protein. Eggs are super cheap right now, which is part of why we're having breakfast-for-dinner at next weekend's girl's night.

Last nite was Turkey sammich with raw vegs. Way too hot to cook & it was just me.

Tonite is pizza. Probably still too hot to cook but it's the season finale of game of thrones so I'm making a slight exception.

YUM. I would've LOVED to have had enough money to get Nathan's dogs. The store had them on sale for $3, while not too terribly expensive, it is when you take into consideration that I was feeding MY family. Hubby and Schmoo can easily put away 4 'dogs apiece. I bought two packs of cheap dollar 'dogs, and was fretting that that wasn't going to be enough. As good as Nathan's 'dogs are, I'd have needed 3 packages. They are my all-time favorite. Usually when I buy those, I'm also buying brats or burgers. I hope they keep them on sale this week, too, 'cuz we're gonna have our 4th of July BBQ next Sunday after church. Hubby usually works at night on the 4th, and I'll work during the day.

Hubby works at 5pm our time, so I'm making Sunday dinner for lunch. BBQ chicken legs, green beans, and roni cheese. Tonight, the kids and I will have breakfast: omelettes and toast.

ETA: The chicken legs were not thawed out yet. So I made the pasta I'd planned to have for tomorrow's dinner, and we'll have the chicken tomorrow. I made angel hair pasta with butter and tons of cheese. Nummy nums were had by all, except Hubby who chose to leave his portion to the kids for their lunches tomorrow while he ate his leftover chili dogs from last night.

We're having hot dogs and brats on Monday for the 4th, with fries. I might do it Sunday for lunch, it depends on Hubby's schedule. This time, though, I bought a pack of Nathan's 'dogs, and two packs of Johnsonville brats.

Tonight? Grilled cheese and tater tots, I'm thinkin'.

I miss Nabo's skirt steak (Bella the rabbit-tailed cat just sneaked by and scared 10 years off my life). Jail food was horrible. I sent a care package of spicy soups each month and I imagine he used some of his account money to buy more. I remember in one letter he talked about when he got out we would "eat that rich steak." I hope his sister cooked him up some when he arrived at her apartment in Acapulco.

Homemade pizza. Had a little trouble getting the yeast to proof. I was out of sugar and Hubby was at the store. He made it home in the nick of time and I added a bit of sugar to the yeast and water and BOOM. It proofed. Sugar is what it needed!
