    Forum skins

Any plans to make any more available? These light colours are doing my eyes in.

    Cheers.

I want to get a dark-colored forum theme going, but I haven't had a chance yet.

This default white kills my eyes when I log in when I can't sleep at night. I like how at TNL forum you can choose what skin to use.

And it uses more energy than a black screen.

Speaking of TNL Forum, I have to put up some new skins there as well. For FAD, how about something with colors similar to this:

    http://www.vbstyles.com/demo/index.php?styleid=27?

And maybe we could throw some skull icons and other death-related imagery in the mix? I think any darker than that may be too much.

My only concern is that too many graphics make it harder for us visually disabled people. Axl was nice enough to make bare bones easy to read skins specifically for that purpose when I asked
I know I'm not the only one here with aging/bad eyes.

I like that one a lot Nick.

Belle, I think we are going to have the option to go from one skin to the other. The TNL forum even has a skin to fool your bosses into thinking you are doing somethine productive.

There's probably a skin for the visually challenged out there somewhere. I'm used to dealing with gamers and action movie fans, so I never looked into it much.

Any skin with good color contrast but without excessive graphics near the main menu choices should be good. Most pcs let us enlarge the print on our end. I'm off immediately to check out the "look productive skin" LOL!

As an old fogie over 40, please allow me to add me two cents. Please keep the blue theme in addition to those you add - it's about the only one my old eyes can take.

It gets better than this for the aged. Just wait; you'd be surprised what these young whipper snappers can do. I'm sure Nick will keep the old default for those who like it (or could care less about changing ). My kid won't use the CUSTOM skin Axl made for me on the other forum because he was trying to be nice and used pink. My butch little girl doesn't do pink. KIDS!!!

I'm also visually challenged and this one works dandy for me.

Here's a tip folks: When I need to, I just click on the View tab at the top of the menu bar in Firefox, then Text Size and Increase until it's the right size for me. This might help some of you too so I thought I'd pop it in there.

Speaking of eyes, I'm gonna be late for poking and prodding from my retinal specialist if I don't get offa this danged forum already. See you later folks!

PS. I do like alternate skins too though for when my eyes feel like cooperating. Thanks Nick!

Yes, we can almost always enlarge the type on our end. Larger type isn't the issue except when excessively small default fonts are chosen for quotes or something. The reason I suggest a skin without excessive graphics especially near the menu choices is that sometimes on a forum when I enlarge the text, it gets obscured by the graphics meant to entertain.

For some reason the text font here doesn't contrast enough with the default light blue for my old eyes but the white background when replying is fine.

Already a thread on this. Instead of starting a new one each time you have a question, pop the topic of your question into the search. So skins? Voila!

Hi, FS. Besides a mobile skin, there won't be any new skins until some other, more fundamental changes are made. And there will never be more than three main skins total.

Okay, what is the TNL forum?!
    NEW SIGNATURE COMING SOON.

  42. #42
It's the forum in my signature. There are three main skins there: a lighter blue one to match the front page of the site, a darker blue one to match the old look of the site, and a plain-Jane one like the default skin here. When I redo the skins on FAD, I'll probably stick to light, dark, and pink.

    Guys
My forum skin on the iPad has randomly changed back (this time I didn't even touch anything). I can't even find settings or anything.
I've no idea how I changed it back last time.
    Can anyone help?
    I may be being dim!
