Good for him! It's kinda sad that this is like a major topic in the sports scene and what I mean by that,
that we discussing someone's sexuality. Not sure if I worded that right.

Hope he can handle the heat. Good for him.
Well good for him.
I thought maybe a NHL player
would come before him.
Maybe someone from Canada.

Good for him!
This was the top news story for our local news broadcasts. WTF? Why would someone's sexual preference be a news story at all, nevermind in central Kentucky in the middle of nowhere? It was brave for him to come out to everyone and I wish him much happiness, but it's nobody's business but his and the media hoopla over it is intrusive and an invasion of his privacy.
In a better world, this wouldn't be an issue.

I totally agree!
I don't care about the man's sexuality.
Why does anyone?

Slow news day?
Big story here since he played for our Timberwolves....
I dont get it, not sure why it is such a big deal ..
Because being an athlete in North America involves being in the most bigoted, homophobic environments you can imagine. The more people that come out, the better.
It's the same thing Harvey Milk was on about. Once the bigots see that some of their friends and neighbors are actually homosexuals, it's much easier for them to accept instead of discriminate.
This effects players in all sorts of ways not even including on the playing field. Team dinners, team functions, team parties, team vacations. It is very common place for a players spouse and/or family to be part of the team dynamic.

I'm very proud of him! I hope this opens the door for others to follow. The support from fellow NBA players has really made me happy! I even respect Kobe (whom I dislike) for the nice words he said about Collins.
Great news ! I hope this will help young people who are struggling with their sexuality, that you can be who you are, and be proud of it . I think he will be a very positive role model.
Today you could be standing next to someone who is trying their best not to fall apart. So whatever you do today, do it with kindness.
Hope he doesn't cop trash-talk on court
Too much to ask?
I'm happy for the guy
Hopefully, the sports world will evolve soon to the point where sexuality no longer matters.
I wish the whole world would evolve to where it no longer matters.
The big story here is about one of our ex Packer players. Leroy Butler (fun fact: he was the first to do the Lambeau Leap) was supposed to be a guest speaker taking about anti-bullying at a church in Milwaukee, but the church called and canceled on him at the last minute. Reason? Butler tweeted "Congrats to Jason Collins". The church told him if he deleted the tweet, apologized, and asked for gods forgiveness that he could come do his speech. Leroy was like "Nah, I'm cool... But thanks"
