Woman killed in home invasion in Baxley, GA

I work in Baxley and everyone was talking about it. There's a rumor the husband is involved, but I haven't seen any confirmation of that. They were tied up and the house ransacked, and the woman was killed.

Story here, from WSAV TV: http://www2.wsav.com/news/2013/jan/0...on-ar-5293089/

It really does. You have to wonder exactly what the husband had to gain if his wife died.

Well, I know it's wrong to judge... but this story has been played so many times in the past. If he did it, there is either going to be insurance money and or another woman in the picture.

It does seem like the stereotypical scenario's people come up with that end up not true.

That guy better have been shot/beaten within an inch of his life, or no one will believe that some intruders killed a woman and not the man/all victims & witnesses present.
And, of course, if it does end up being the husband, he will not have scored any extra points by attempting to blame two (fictitious) black males. Didn't Susan Smith initially make up a black-man story before admitting that she herself was responsible for her car going into the water and drowning her two defenseless sons? Good times...

A follow-up story about this, from WTOC:

    http://www.wtoc.com/story/20507976/h...-in-appling-co

Apparently the couple's child was in the house, and the husband was allowed to feed the child and get her(?) back to sleep while all this was going on.

Oh wow! My thought on this... if 2 grown men were going to commit a home invasion I think they would take out the most likely to prevent them which would be the guy.. then the lady.. and so on... I can't wait for the details to come out.

If only he had been a handgun owner - then this never would have happened. Right?

Sounds a bit Sam Sheperdish. We had a similar case last year only hubby claimed she left him while he wasd at work when they found her body in a field and the murder weapon (hammer) in his home even our keystone cops got it together to prosecute. He's sitting in prison now.

Wow. So if it comes out that the husband committed the crime, we'll all know he added this line to his story in order to look like Daddy Of The Year. I'll have some choice things to say if he's convicted, regarding who his prison boyfriend should be.

Meanwhile, this whole thing smells fisher than Courtney Stodden feeding her cats! He was tied up, yet allowed to feed his daughter, then must have been re-tied because he was apparently tied up at the end when he "struggled" to trigger the alarm system, which hadn't gone off in the first place. Yep. Bonus

That's right. Having a gun solves everything. /sarcasm/ But someone will make that comment on my Facebook, I'm sure.

here's some more sarcasm... there will be a gun, it will be registered to the husband, and the criminals made the husband show them where the gun was because they didn't bring one because we all know that criminals are not legally allowed to own guns so therefore they didn't have one of their own. yep. sounds about right.

I suspect it's probably simpler than that. If there was a gun involved, I'd bet money that ballistics will eventually connect it to the husband. Yeah, then he's going to have to come up with a really good story.

If she was bludgeoned, stabbed or strangled, then I'm even more suspicious. And why would they kill her and leave him alive?

yes, and the story will be, the invaders made him shoot his wife after the untied him for it of course. I just wonder if it was before or after they untied him to feed the kid?

Naw, the invaders tied them up because hubby was a girly-man liberal who didn't go for his gun immediately. Then they found the loaded gun in the drawer of the bedside table, used it to kill her, wiped it for prints, then left him alive as a witness. Yeah, that's how it went down.

YES! That's it! It has politically motivated hate crime written all over it!

I'll feel much better when some hard evidence is revealed. And not just circumstantial (if he had a girlfriend, a gambling debt, blah blah blah).

Man! I can only read one comment, and it's not very LOL-worthy ("Just as we expected. So sad."). Cut and paste, anybody?
    I definitely smell a rat!

I read on Facebook, on the WTOC page, that the Baxley sheriff escorted Jonathan Courson to both the viewing and the funeral of the wife he may have murdered. I had a customer at work today tell me that, and boy was she pissed.

Turns out he did it for the insurance money. From this week's Baxley News Banner:

Go figure huh? What a pig! That poor child will grow up now without a mom because daddy values money more than them. What a prick, I hope he gets raped daily in prison.

I'll bet he doesn't feel so clever now. I hope the greedy, selfish bastard ends up on death row. For the prospect of an insurance payout for himself, his child will now basically be an orphan.

I've seen this type of story way too many times on 48 Hours, Dateline NBC, Forensic Files etc etc. It always ends up being a life insurance policy or another man/woman.

Also just a side note - I was watching an interview with a serial killer yesterday (completely unrelated to this case - but) he said that the most common way of doing things is to kill the man first because he is the most threatening. I thought that was interesting.

It's only one word if you write it in German: Penisbruch. But you seem to have become disturbingly fond of the concept.

Here's a useful phrase for your next date with a German:
    Noch so 'n Spruch, Penisbruch!
(Another word like that, and I'll break your penis!)
It's fun and easy to say and remember, and could really help lighten up the mood when used at the right moment.

And I'm so surprised that the husband was behind it all - you could knock me over with a feather.

I've never understood how people can think they can take out a ridiculous amount of life insurance on someone and then kill them just a few days later thinking they could get away with it. You'd think they would know that life insurance would be looked into as a motive.
Anyways, how someone could take away their own child's mother is another thing I'll never understand.

Frickin idiot asshat. Yep, surprise! I guess his defense team could argue that his IQ is too low for him to receive the death penalty...

It always amazes me that of the thousands of murders like this that have ever happened and the vast majority of them have been done by the husband, apparently some men still believe they are so much smarter and more convincing than the thousands of other schmucks and that they will get away with it. Nevermind the fact that the motive is nearly always financial, another woman, custody issues, or the quest for freedom. He's just another selfish dumbass.
