OMG, that picture brought tears to my eyes! Why in the world would they beat him so bad? He didn't deserve to be treated like that, nobody does. That poor man must have suffered so much and it is just wrong!

There was no sense that , I am going to write a letter and let them know exactly how I feel and how that was effing uncalled for, no one should be beaten like that, They should be charged with murder.

Shortly after they announced the charges this morning I looked on here but didn't find a thread about this. I support the police but this went way, way over the line. One estimate is 13-15 weeks for the trial. It will be interesting to see this held in Orange County.

That poor man. I agree with everyone here...he did not deserve this and I hope that he gets some kind of justice for his death.

Seattle was having a police brutality problem for the past couple of years. Until I saw Kelly's picture I didn't think LE could get any worse than ours. They slaughtered this poor man. RIP

This is an example of how bad it can get when officers use and wield power over others. Don't get me wrong not all officers are like this but the ones that are give all others a bad name.

This story has sickened me since I first heard about it. I will not believe it if they are not held accountable.

This is the DA's press conference where he lays out in great detail the beating of Kelly Thomas. To be honest, I have never heard of a DA discussing a case to this extent before a trial. Seems like it would somehow help the defense.

Jesus H Christ.....this was going above and beyond. Why hurt him so bad?! It wasn't like the guy was being accused of a major huge crime either.

Both cops are charged with murder. This guy was a friend of the family. My husband is working with his father to make the Kelly Thomas memorial website. So sick to see this happen.

I knew I shouldn't have looked at that picture... I always seem to click the ones that say "Graphic" or "Warning" first (I believe that's typical of a Death Hag) but holy CRAP.
Police brutality is brushed to the side too often in this country. Officers are put on paid administrative leave all the time for things they'd beat the living hell out of us for doing and that just pisses me off.
I can't even read their reasoning for pleading not guilty, it would just make it worse somehow. They're either stupid or murderers (likely both) and should be taken out of society, end of.
For some reason, when those in power of punishing offenders wind up being worse than those they're going after, it just really gets to me. And so did that picture.
Most of the stories I read here are shocking or sad or interesting or weird... and that sort of thing must amuse me, because I'm still here and I enjoy it. But this one just makes me (alarmingly) angry.

That picture is haunting isn't it? It really upset me when I first saw the picture and I have thought about this poor man several times since then. There is no excuse whatsoever for what this man was put through. I haven't read anywhere that he had a gun or was being threatening in any way so why not use a taser on him to get him under control and go from there? It was said that he was mentally ill and maybe that is the reason why he fought against them. He was probably scared and for very good reason as it turns out. I have no issue with good, honest cops but the bad ones infuriate me. If this man had beaten one of the cops to death, he probably would have got the death penalty just because it was a cop. The cop should be eligible for the death penalty for abusing his position of authority and brutally beating a mentally ill man to death. An investigator will probably decide that the cop was defending himself and he may not get much time at all, if any. That poor man didn't stand a chance.

Two cops named Rollins and Thurlowe beat Robert Jewett to death in Palm Beach County years back, they were in a 'roid rage I believe. No justice for Robert either.

The God-damned sons of bitches got off. And at least one of those psychos is hoping to get his job back.
There is no justice. Be afraid, be VERY afraid.

It adds to my general nausea that one of the defense attorneys is obviously an observant Jew, complete with yarmulke. Evidently whatever money and notoriety he gains from this case makes him forget what similar psycho-sociopathic "police" and "soldiers" did to both his people AND the mentally-ill back in the good old days in Nazi Germany. And the possible similar consequences of unleashing these creeps back upon a hapless populace. (Even if the possible sentences would have been shamefully short.)

And with all the protesting over the verdicts, no doubt the Fullerton gendarmes were ITCHING to practice the same "policy" on the rabble... You know, the kind that made Rodney King's injuries look like a few scrapes and bruises in comparison.

Sick. Both of these cuntbags deserve endless suffering and misery. Who can rest easy when your local police force is nothing more than a group of murderous thugs.

I've got my fingers on all the right keys and they're just rarin' to type something but to be honest, I have no idea what to say.

(Never stopped me before, so...) Heard someone say... on TV tonight, the SAG Awards maybe... that "When those paid to uphold the law break the law, there is no law."

Don't know about that, but I do know there sure as hell wasn't any justice, not in this case.

They should probably be sued for wrongful death but one can see the dead man's PARENTS are afraid.... Perhaps some of the jurors were, as well.

I am absolutely shocked that these uniformed scumbags got away with murdering an unarmed, mentally ill man on video. Is there anything that can be done? I looked for an address for Ramos just because I wanted to send him a letter about what a piece of shit he is but I couldn't find one. If there is a hell, I hope that his is an eternity filled with the pain and terror that Kelly Thomas felt in his last moments. I hope that Ramos' life is nothing but horror until he dies. He deserves it. I really feel hatred for him.
