Even if he lives 5 more years (doubt it) whatever time he spends in prison will never allow him to pay his debt to society, this guy virtually got off scott free. Hope the old geezer gets sentenced before he bites the big one...

By my troth, I care not; a man can die but once; we owe God a death.... He that dies this year is quit for the next.

Boston (CNN) -- A man who'd been prepared to testify in the trial of reputed Boston mob boss James "Whitey" Bulger was found dead -- a day after, a friend says, he learned he was dropped from the prosecution's witness list.
Massachusetts State Police are investigating the death of Stephen Rakes, 59, the Middlesex County district attorney's office said Thursday.
A jogger reported finding Rakes' body Wednesday in Lincoln, west of Boston, said Stephanie Guyotte, a spokeswoman for the district attorney's office.
There were no obvious signs of trauma, the office said. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death.
Bulger is charged in the deaths of 19 people during some two decades when prosecutors say he terrorized South Boston as the head of the Irish mob. He also faces charges of extortion, racketeering and money laundering. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

I saw that. I would hope the mob doesn't give him any respect anymore. it will be interesting to see how the autopsy turns out.

the only think that makes me wonder if it was really a suicide is how amped up the guy was to testify and had been there everyday watching the trial ect and then after being dropped he didnt show up and was found dead. Was his whole life revolving around being a part of WB getting his justice and when it didnt happened he was distraught? how sad if so I mean damn wouldnt the guy win if he offed himself and didnt see him get justice? I'm very interested to see how this shakes out.

I feel like this whole trial has been one big cover-your-ass run through. I'm kind of surprised Whitey went to trial so quickly, I figured he'd die in prison before it ever got started.

I'm wicked surprised he went to trial so quickly too. Though I suppose they have had years to build a case and the public did want the trial to happen. Maybe there was a fear he would die and then that would look bad on the government so they did it as quickly as possible?
Bulger gets 2 life sentences plus 5 years:

whitey has some regrets

pfft. His only regret is he got caught. He's a fucking psychopath. He'd take a nap after he killed someone. It's the most relaxed he ever was. After a kill.

What?
Did somebody have a beef with him over something?

They used a lock in a sock to beat the crap out of him and tried to gouge his eyes out. He was in a wheelchair.

How is his death any different than the people he killed? I don't mourn him he was a killer as well.

Someone at the prison had to be in on it.
Three other prisoners were just hanging out with no supervision and had time to wheel him out of sight of the surveillance cameras, beat him with the lock, gouge his eyes out, and try to cut out his tongue.

For me, I think he knew his killer and wanted to die.
