My ex loved to watch golf, which I find about as exciting as watching paint dry - except for 3 people - the late Payne Stewart (because he always dressed in plus fours), ChiChi Rodriguez (because he was always good for a laugh) and Seve Ballesteros, because he was *so* handsome.

    RIP.

This BBC clip from a past Open shows his ever youthful exuberance brilliantly, which is why people loved him, including my wife who met him briefly around this time...

Probably one of the most naturally talented golfers ever born. Had a killer short game because he spent all his time on a beach with a pitching wedge as a kid. Even after he got the cancer he never showed any weakness. Generous to a T, and a great sense of humour, was a truly inspirational person. One of the very few people I would actually miss, we are poorer for not having him with us.

He pitched a ball off of a temporary carpark to win his first British Open. Unbelievable. People spend so much time gushing over Woods probably because they never saw this fellow play. He was golf's original excitement machine.

    R.I.P.
