It's no surprise seeing SoCal being on the top spot.

...and I always wonder why traffic is so damn crazy here in LA...

Word. I never ever ever ever take flights out of Ontario Intl. The Santa Anas are mad crazy there. I have mad respect for the pilots that take off and especially attempt to land there.

One prime example as to why I use LAX or San Diego for travel. This is some random TV News footage. These UPS pilots tried twice to land at Ontario before saying eff it and was re-routed to LAX.

Even most of the smaller airports here in Los Angeles (Santa Monica Airport, Van Nuys, Pacoima, etc.) seem so busy and VERY active all the time.

There was an interesting post right before I posted my "OMG" post yesterday afternoon and it has been removed. Not for me to try to explain. For a second, I thought I was hallucinating the missing post that prompted my "OMG" post! LOL! But IMHO, this thread was strangely quiet after that post. Maybe a moderator will explain a bit?? Hope so, cos I love this thread.

Wow, to have money like that... wonder what happened to his 707? Did he take it out to help the world out with high emissions standards?

I still like Cyn's idea of having our very own FAD Gulfstream 5... to take a trip to the prettier parts of Cuba. Granted, it may not seat enough FAD's as JT's Challenger might (not sure of it's configuration either).

How about we ask JT to fly us hags there? After all, he is an experienced and licensed pilot AND he has a personable and charming personality. I think he would be loads of fun to be around!!!

I'm confused.the artical state that this is the latest and LARGEST plane purchased by Travolta. I did a search for picture of the plane and it looks like a personal or business jet and a lot smaller then a 707. What gives?

I think they are wrong John- as far as I know, Travolta still owns the rare short body style 707 that is painted with Qantas livery. Here it is in February of 2011:

    John Travolta's 707-138 Takeoff at LAX (2-11-11)...

Damn I'm jealous! What a beautiful jet, the aviation equivalent of owning a vintage Cadillac etc. That's plane has got to cost a fortune to maintain. As they say, it's good to be the king!

John, John, John I thought you were up on all this aviation news, you too cynful and avi.
John Travoltas 707 was only a loaner! Xenu wanted it back so when the alien that Scientology is based on wants his 707 back you better come up with the keys and cut down the fuzzy dice on the rear view mirror post haste.

Something bothers me about Travolta flying his jets.
Here's an aeronautical question for Joe.
If Travolta takes off in his 707 (before he gave it back to Xenu) you have to wonder
how his toupe reacts during take off. Do you think with the G-forces of taking off and bouncing around hit toupe goes up and down like the singing fish?

He is the pilot ambassador for QANTAS, that is why the aircraft sports the old QANTAS livery. Inside however, it is a palace and nothing like the old 707's

John Travolta's is a very distinctive and beautiful jet. I would be stoked if I ever saw it "in the flesh" so to speak.

I am just annoyed I can't go plane spotting. I live nowhere near an airport, and if I ever go to the city, the people I go with always complain about it.

What part of Victoria are you from? Monday morning I will be flying into Melbourne, hiring a car and driving up to Corowa via the Wang. No time for toodles though as the wife and mother in law will be onboard lol.

I have a question for the whole board I'm sure 1 of you knows the answer to this.
A few years ago a sattelite that was going to come down I'm not sure if it was going to comr down in a populated area or what but they chose to blow it up in space using a missle.
It didn't sit very well with some nations because they were worries it was a military test so they were invited to watch.
    Anyone remember this?

Do you mean the Mir Space Station? Otherwise, I believe the Skylab deorbit in 1979 was controversial because of miscalculations, and it hit near Perth, Australia instead of in South Africa where they directed it.

No it wasn't Mir or Skylab, they just reentered the atmosphere, burnt up and hit some people.
This happened during the George W Bush era.

Thanks Cyn, for posting, on what would've been my dad's birthday tomorrow! He was an aviation fan, and flew Spitfires in WWII when he was an Army/Air Core Captain. He helped fuel my interest. Bless you!!!

You are so very welcome duchessmary! Your dad must have been a truly remarkable man, especially to have raised a daughter like you!
How wonderful that a major aviation event is happening on his birthday...I will be thinking of both you and your dad as I watch some of the ceremonies tomorrow.

You're not alone in hating him, his neighbors in Ocala hate him too because the 707 is too big a plane for the runway. The plane kicks up alot of rocks and he's had some damage from them when he lands.
