Has the Crown commented on reasons for not applying for dangerous offender status??? It would seem that he fits the criteria?! 25 years goes by so fast.

    Good photos.

A sniper on the roof? To protect the cowardly rapist/killer?

If he did that to my sister I think I would go insane with rage. I would want him so dead.

Ahh, there's more to the Fort Hood story. The story being suppressed is that there were four soldiers being counseled by Hasan, who thought they were headed home, but were told they were being sent back to Iraq yet again. They lost it, started shooting, and were killed by guards. But the military and the US Government don't want word of an actual armed mutiny in the ranks to get out, aware that it might trigger a cascade of similar incidents among a rank-and-file clearly pushed to the breaking point. So, the Muslim guy got blamed for it and, as this story confirms, the actual evidence of what happened has been destroyed.

WHAT !? 25 YEARS? NO DANGEROUS OFFENDER STATUS? How do they figure? So, how many people do you have to torture and let smother to death before you're considered a dangerous offender? OMG

So yesterday (as part of my job) I had to interview John Rosen. He's the lawyer who represented Paul Bernardo.

He explained to me why the Williams prosecutors did not apply for dangerous offender status yesterday. It is apparently reserved for "serious personal injury offences." The criminal has to have two previous convictions, and have spent at least 2 years in prison.

There's another reason though: Dangerous offenders spend at least seven years behind bars; their cases are then reviewed every two years. Which means that - potentially - a dangerous offender could be released after just 9 years. Murderers spend at least 25 years in prison before being eligible for a parole review.

Having said that, Bernardo HAS been declared a dangerous offender. Go figure.

LOL " any of you fine , upstandin' citizens get to close to that sex manic killer , i'm a gonna blow ya away ".

Seriously , I am not happy with that sentence . I am against the death penalty but giving that piece of shit life with no posibility of parole for 25 years gives him a ray , a glimmer of hope that he can at some point apply for release. Oh , they say he will never get out , which may be true but I'm against him having that glimmer . I have heard U.S. judges giving killers life with NO possibility of parole , which takes away all hope. Why can't we have that here.

He got two life sentences to be served concurrently with no parole for 25 years.

If he'd been ordered to serve them consecutively, would it mean a longer stretch without possibility of parole?

25 years is a long time. Not long enough, but he's put away for now. I doubt he makes it out. Those poor, beautiful girls.

We just had our annual customer forum in Boston where we wine, dine etc our primary customers.
I was at a table with four Canadians at dinner and mentioned this guy and one woman pointed to the other and said "Ask her about him. Her husband served under him in the Canadian Airforce and she went to a Christmas party he held a few years ago."
You should have heard the woman speaking about him. She said he was charming, witty and the poster child for a crisp professional military type. She said her husband who she considers a good judge of character never even got a hint of anything off about the guy even though he dealt with the guy quite a bit. He never said anything inappropriate about women or seemed to hang around the female personnel.
She said all the enforce folks they have talked to just can't believe it.
It was interesting to hear her talk about it and as usual ....the Canadian table was the most fun one at the dinner.
    Regards,
    Mary

I find it hard to believe that this big of a wingnut wouldn't display some kind of bizarre behavior that was detectable to his closest family. He had duffle bags full of lingerie for god's sake! You can't be that bizarre and not have someone know that there is a screw loose. Does any one have any information about his wife and immediate family?

I agree that his sentence seems pretty light for the visciousness of his crimes.

This person was a very close and trusted friend of Prime Mininster
Stephen Harper of Canada for many years.

The PM of Canada needs to be asked about this. (but he never will)

There is some question as to his wife's knowledge. He would dress in all black and walk at midnight, and she didn't think this behavior strange? He had numerous boxes of women's underwear yet she didn't know what the boxes contained?

As part of his plea deal there were no charges levied against him for the child porn found on his computer.

Well let's not split hairs here. Both are monsters. And Paul raped way more women than Col. Williams.

Plus the fact that Paul murdered children.... Kinda puts it over the top.

Not to be a stickler but to officially be a serial killer you have to kill 3 people. This nutbag was only convicted of killing two, correct? I only mention that because a lot of these so-called people like the label of serial killer. Why give this perverted failure of humanity the distinction.

His relationship with Harper was purely official. Williams flew many dignitaries ( GG/Queen/world leaders) as part of his job. He had no personal relationship with Harper.

Unlike Jack Layton who had many a personal relationship with Toronto's finest massage parlours.

I have it on good authority Williams and Harper were actually lovers.

Williams wouldn't be interested in Harper - unless Harper wore women's underwear.

Did he only kill two women? If so he isn't a serial killer, three or more make a serial killer according to the FBI, but it is sick what he did.

I just read this whole thread, as well as googled all the information I could find. I can't believe I've never heard of this before now, it literally left me sick to my stomach! I hope he becomes the inmates most prized possession, this despicable waste of flesh.
