I thought Jack Lemmon was cool in everything he did, especially teamed with Walter Matthau.

I enjoyed the last of the Walter and Jack movies the Grumpy old men movies. They had me laughing so hard and I never tire of seeing these 2 geniuses working with each other. I really miss these 2 men.

He was great in "The Great Race" as Professor Fate with Peter Falk as his sidekick Max. He also played Prince Hapnick, a Professor Fate lookalike.

He appeared to be someone who you could walk up to on the street and he would be cordial enough to talk to you like you were a friend of his. Matthau on the other hand looked to be a real grouch, but looks can be deceiving...loved both of 'em.

One of my faves... brilliant One very memorable moment was when Wing Rhames won a Golden Globe for his tv performance as Don King... and he gave the award to Jack Lemmon, who was also nominated.... I do not usually get moved by award shows but that was really moving...

He gave an absolutely stunning performance in Glengarry Glen Ross. That has to be one of my all time favorite movies. There was very little that "happened" in the movie; it was all in the acting. Every actor gave a brilliant performance, but Lemmon really stood out.

I agree, that was an amazingly gracious gesture by Ving Rhames.

I loved Jack Lemmon. "The Prisoner of Second Avenue" is one of the funniest and most poignant movies I've ever seen. He was a brilliant actor.

    Yeah it's a great one.
When I was a teenager I worked in a restaurant on Queen St. This loudmouth came in on evening with some people, put his arm around my shoulder and proceeded to tell me how we would rearrange the very packed patio to set it up for him and his friends. All night he kept calling me over. Remember that poor cat trying to get away from Pepe Le Pew? That was me. Guess who he was? He was an obnoxious, arrogant asshole and I couldn't stand him.

A Lemmon/Matthau film that is often overlooked is "Buddy Buddy". Matthau is a mob hit man hired to rub out another mob guy. Lemmon is a neurotic stranger whose wife left him to live in a sex cult. The two keep crossing paths, much to Matthau's frustration.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APWrZ...eature=related

How could anyone not love Jack Lemmon?
He played the poor sap everyman who was a victim of his surroundings and somehow we could relate or have empathy for the poor guy. Sometimes with humor, drama or a bit of both.
    All around, great actor.
    Days of Wine and Roses.
