The biggest prick I ever met was Geezer Butler (original Bass Player) from Black Sabbath.
I was backstage at a Bruce Dickinson show that his band GZR opened. He walks by, I politely asked for an autograph - he just stared me up and down and walked away.
His tour manager saw everything and promptly came over and apologized to me (which was nice).
I met a lot of athletes when I lived in NYC....
Derek Jeter was a prick.
A-Rod was sweet and so was Andy Pettite.
I met John Elway when I lived in Denver....... he is probably the biggest jerk I have ever met, celebrity or otherwise.
In NYC we used to go to a club where WWE wrestlers hung out when they were in town I met:
Jon Cena: completley adorable and super aweet
Triple HHH: Intimidating, strong, and was a complete sweetheart.
A couple of years ago a friend of mine and I got to meet Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, he was also pretty sweet.
A few years back I met Janet Leigh at a film festival done in her honor in Southington, CT. I blew off work to go.
I got to watch Psycho with Janet Leigh sitting literally 10 feet away - it was an incredible experience.
After the movie she did a Q&A session, signed autographs and posed for pictures. I got my Psycho DVD signed.
I remember her being the sweetest, classiest lady. Charming and down to earth - but also a total star. I remember thinking how incredibly beautiful she was even at an old age.
She died shortly after that, I'm glad I met her.

I met someone recently who used to be a photographer of rock stars back in the 70's. He met Led Zeppelin on a number of occasions. He told me that none of them were friendly except for John Paul Jones. What a bummer.
What did Elway do to make you think that?? Just curious... I've heard that he's an alcoholic who used to cheat on his wife constantly- did he hit on you??
Last year right after Xmas I was picking through the discounted wrapping paper at Rite Aid...started chatting and comparing the patterns with another nice gent who was going through them as well....turned out to be Michael Gross, the dad on Family Ties. Nice as could be, and evidently likes a bargain!
Oh and Ashley Tisdale acted hurried and put out....but she did give my kids autographs.

About a month before he was killed, I met Bobby Kennedy. Such a cool experience!
Tony Randall and Jack Klugman, super nice and wonderful, signed autographs and had my picture taken with them.
Met Steve Martin years ago when he was doing his stand up comedy. Met him backstage after a show, sign autographs and talked to him for about 1/2 hour. He was wonderful and gorgeous in person. Have always been a fan because he was so nice.
Glen Campbell, wonderful - met him at a charity event and he sat at our table. Wonderful sense of humor.
Met Joe Namath once years ago, he was also very cordial.
Saw Tony Curtis in person, but never met him. Still love him. My first crush!
That's funny, Steve Martin once blew off my father-in-law in an unpleasant way. Of course maybe Dad was being a pest!
I met John Elway waaaaaaay back when we were both in high school. He was an ass then. Several years later, when I was married to my ex, I was introduced to him again (ex had a friend who played for Denver and we would have dinner with him when they were in town to play against the Raiders back when they were in LA). I was told he was a nice guy, but my first impression stuck too tightly.

Dave Mathews Band ~ extremely nice, they even played a few sets in one of our bars with our house guitarist for the late night crowd.

Tom Petty ~ very nice, and VERY quiet
Josh Groban ~ I have to admit I had no clue who he was, and he acted like he knew I didn't...was kinda funny...he was laughing about it.
Vincent D'Onofrio (Law & Order Criminal Intent) ~ Extremely sweet, spent the whole weekend with his son, hanging out on the beach, at the local amusement park.
I've met alot...but those are some that stand out.

Yes, Ms. Andrews was an absolute horror. Where I encountered her was at a book signing event. There she was sitting at the table, sunglasses on with two security guards behind her. Granted, there was a long line of folks waiting for their chance to meet her. I was not any different. Well, when I got to the front of the line to have my book signed, I said hello and told her it was an honor to meet her.

Snatched my book, scribbled her signature and waved me along.
That too took my breath away. I understand that stars have a bad day or they might be pressed for time.... I could even understand that they might be a little leery of "fans" (including the erotomaniacs like Robert Bardo). But, I felt that I didn't do or say anything wrong. And her behavior was rather cold, snobbish and ghastly.
However, another person in the line gossiped with me later about Julie Andrews. She had told me that among all the old stars that one would like to meet, she is the least cooperative and rather bitchy when it comes to events. As a result, her behavior toward me was not anything out of the unusual. She also had dished that Julie Andrews doesn't really warm up to people at all (one person's opinion; I know that there are others who might think she is quite different ).
So, it was strange (and sad) after seeing such classics as Victor/Victoria, The Sound of Music and other films in which her voice was phenomenal, to see her have such a truly ugly and standoffish personality.
Speaking of movie stars, when in reference to her, I think about the time I encountered Janet Leigh as an intern for a news cast a while back when she was alive. At the time when I saw her, I was shocked (after growing up watching Psycho, The Great Houdini and other fare) to see her so tiny and emaciated. The camera guy, at the time, joked that she needed a "hamburger" more than anything.
But yes, she was rather poor looking--nothing but bones, wrinkles and blond hair. And, while I stood in the background aiding the cameraman and the reporter with their tasks, I chanced to get a good look at her and for that one moment, our eyes met. She didn't give me a hard stare (unlike Ms. Andrews who never did look up), but it was one of curiosity. But then again, I was just as curious. We never did speak.
I would have loved her to dish about Hitchcock. But the report was only a small segment of her coming to the town that I had interned in that year. It was to dedicate a theater.
Unfortunately, several years later she would be dead. And that was my memory of her.
So, you guys get two stories for the price of one.

I cant remember who told me this or how they could possibly know, but it was something about Julie Andrews had a session with her shrink every single day. No idea if remotely true.
But if so, what could possibly have gone so horribly wrong in her life?
Now, speaking of sopranos... who remembers Marni Nixon? Ghost-sang for Audrey Hepburn and Natalie Wood, among others....I once met her after an off-broadway show she was in...she was soooo sweet....when I complimented the show she was genuinely humble and unsure..."do you really think it was okay?" As if I actually knew something.
It seems like Marni Nixon was the go-to girl for every actress who couldn't sing for YEARS. She had the most beautiful voice, I always wondered why she didn't become more famous herself.

Back in the 80s I was in Los Angeles and met Gene Simmons of Kiss , he shined me on, but I did get a pic of me standing next to him at the Hard Rock cafe.
Grace Slick was mean and cold hearted when I met her a year ago at one of her painting/ art shows. I bought one of her paintings and asked her to sign my Jefferson Airplane Volunteers album and she refused. But she was snippy about it.
The nicest celebs Ive ever met has to be the Wilson sisters, Ann and Nancy of Heart. When I met them they were welcoming and all around great people. Same with Stevie Nicks, she was nice also.
I saw Steve Martin from a distance gambling actually playing blackjack at Harrah's Casino in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. His table was full so we didnt actually talk. Just saw him from across the slot machines

After seeing Gene Simmons on that "Family Jewels" show, I just come to see him as a real idiot (sorry Kiss fans!).
I've heard Grace Slick has pretty much put her music past behind her and just wants to be an "artist" now (with her paintings) and has made it known she won't sign autographs for her musical career stuff. I'm pretty sure she's still a bit pissed about her house burning down a few years back and losing everything she owned in it.
I'm glad to hear the Wilson sister are cool. They've always seemed like down to earth people. I felt bad for Ann when they did that "Behind the Music" special on VH-1 a few years back and all they seemed to zero in on was her weight, rather than their career as a band.
I met Eddie Izzard after a show once, he wasn't very nice, but he was probably really tired. I can't say much, he did just do a 2 hour show and all.
Martin Sheen and Rob Reiner were great when I met them. They were just down to earth, nice guys.
Taime Downe from Faster Pussycat was a real prick. I guess even in 2000, he thought he was still Mr. Rock Star and only wanted to talk to the groupies. Meh, whatever. Brent Muscat was nice, but a bit aloof. Phillip Lewis of LA Guns was worse than both of them put together. Total asshole.
The nicest musician I've ever met is Butch Walker. I met him when was touring with Marvelous 3. The whole band were awesome, great guys. Butch held my hand and sang part of "Good Year for the Roses" to me. That placed him firmly at the top of my list forever.

Well Simmons was more into the women that came up to him then he was into me with my camera hoping to get a pic of me with him. I mentioned I had seen Kiss back in 1977 with Cheap Trick at the Cow Palace in San Francisco and loved his work. He did say thanks and moved on to the female groupies that were there
If you ever go to one of these art shows that grace Slick puts on to show and sell her art, her paintings while are very impressive , are outragiously priced. Her work starts at 5500 dollars and top out at 23000 dollars. I paid a small fortune for her art and she was really pissy about signing an album for me. She put me in a bunk mood at the time.

Crestline is not far from Lake Arrowhead where alot of celebrities have homes. I have watched Family Jewels and thought his kids were pretty well adjusted for having famous parents and all. Having said that I have never been a fan of KISS or Gene Simmons.
I met Andrew Dice Clay at a Casino years back.
I was expecting him to be on the rough and crude side (wonder why huh?)
He was actually softspoken and pleasant, very polite and friendly!
I met 2 very nice celebrities while bartending in Vermont. One was Paul Newman, and yes, his eyes ARE that blue!! The other one was Christopher Reeve, he was starring in a play in Williamstown, Mass.
The MEANEST celebrity I ever met was on an airplane in first class, arrogant SOB, Frankie Vallie (spelling?).
Ok i get it. I just forgot what shined on meant. I guess I was once shined on by Mick Taylor of the stones. I got introduced (he was chubby and wasted at that point, mid-80s). That night I was straight looking and etxremely conervatively dressed (if not uncute in those days). He all but ignored me as we shook hands but outrigght drooled like a dog for my sluttily dressed friend. I understood. Guess rocks stars get away with that.

Thanks for the link, I look forward to digging in. I love this topic. though I will say the first page is full of comments about "why do people care about celebrities." I get very impatient with that discussion. Let's just admit most of us are curious about celebs, even if we know they're just normal and in many cases asses. It's fun!
Butch Walker is great! One of the greatest songwriters and vocalists of our era - and arguably the industry's best (worst) kept secret.
I am a huge fan of his music - I've never seen him perform live or met him, but he seems down to earth and a nice guy.
His "Letters" CD is incredible...

She did talk a little about Hitchcock (my fave director) - one cool anecdote I can remember is that she said that Hitch had a rather dark sense of humor would love to push the envelope and tell dirty jokes in front of important people.
She recalled him telling a dirty joke at a banquet in front of some studio execs - she said all she could do was blush.
I love Ann Wilson - I think she is the best female singer in the world and I think she is absolutely beautiful. I've been mesmerized by her since I heard her sing and perform live.
The whole weight thing is done for the shock value of it all - heavy or not she is beautiful -anyone that can share their soul with the world by way of music is beautiful. Plus, there's beauty in what some call imperfection - I say...
I've never met Ann, but I saw her as part of a Beatles Tribute show a few years back. I had 5th Row tickets and I brought a dozen roses for her. I walked up to the front of the stage when she finished a song and gave her the roses.
The show was wicked cool - It was Alan Parsons, Todd Rundgren, Ann Wilson & John Entwistle doing their hits as well as Beatle songs. I loved it.
Nancy Wilson I met at a solo acoustic show in Northhampton, MA - she was very sweet and took time to sign, take pictures and chat with all the fans.

Just talked to a friend of mine, and he reminded me of the time he was in the back of a taxi, back in the late 60s, minding his own business, and there was another passenger in the back. Dude with long hair, TOTALLY passed out, snoring, etc.
It was Jim Morrison!!!Who the heck knows where he was coming from or going to... and where was the rest of his entourage??!! Knowing the stories of Jim, he probably just wandered off to some bar on his own, and his band was frantic!!! The only reason I'd like to go to Paris is to see his grave.
I have heard many times that Steve Martin is VERY difficult.... both to work with, and to try and get an autograph from. It really shocked me, because he just seems like so much fun.... but I guess..... NOT SO MUCH.
Met him at a signing for the Kennedy book. I also brought "People Like Us" and he signed that, too. His comment: "Ah, I like that book!"
I thought the Two Mrs Grenvilles was perfection, An Inconvenient Woman great, but after that.....well, the OJ book was unreadable.

I was a waitress in Florida at a Perkins and met Andre Agassi - pre Brook Shields (twice) (Tennis Star)
All I remember was I was back in the back and one of the other waitresses came back and said "Where is he sitting!.....Oh man you are lucky!" and looked at me. And I said who and she told me. I had NO CLUE who he was as I do not follow sports so I just faked half excitement like oh wow. Then I waited on him - very nice looking, very polite but not overly friendly and excellent tipper!
The second time he was with a table of friends and they were all laughing and joking and again excellent tippers!

My brother in law, who is a surfer dude, recently hung out for an entire weekend surfing with Matthew McConaughey and his posse. Said he was super cool and nice (and for what its worth apparently not gay as I've always heard, very into the current girlfriend.).
Years ago (I was around 15, I think) I met Debbie Reynolds, and got her autograph as well. I met her after Annie Get Your Gun (which I had to be dragged kicking and screaming to - I did *not* want to see that play!) I was able to talk to her for a few minutes and she was one of the nicest people I ever met, and it turned me into an instant fan. She also had beautiful green eyes - they may have been contacts, not sure on that. Didn't ask. I also met Harve Presnell, who was nice but wasn't as talkative as Debbie Reynolds. Met someone else that same day - Gavin MacLeod maybe? I don't remember.
I was a Hotel Detective for a year back in '84 and met:
Phyllis Diller: Nice lady and still joking around.
John Schneider: Rode in elevator with him & wife at that time. She wore the
balls in that family.
Gene Hackman: Really, really nice guy...and TALL. I'm 6'3 and I had to look up.
William Windom: Another nice fella.
Wayne Gretzky: Quiet, seemed nice enough.
Later owned a nightclub used in a few TV shows about a dozen times or so:
Lorenzo Lamas: Filmed there several times. Nice guy, kind of quiet though.
Rob Estes: Filmed there many times. Seemed OK, but didn't talk much
Mitzi Capture: A total sweetheart, super nice on each occassion they filmed.
Lawrence Tierney: What can I say? Strange guy, but fun to chat with.

He was really rude and walked around like he was a god or something. He wouldn't sign stuff fans brought to him, only the pictures that you had to buy. And yes he hit on me and my friend, in front of our boyfriends.
