Born John William Charlesworth on November 15th 1935 in Hull, Yorkshire, England.

He appeared in a large number of films during his young life. The most famous of these being the 1951 Alastair Sim vehicle 'Scrooge'. Charlesworth played the role of Peter Cratchit.

There is scant biographical information available on John.

On April 2nd 1960, John committed suicide by gassing himself in Birmingham, England. He left behind 3 suicide notes reading "In this life you can only let so many people down, then you realise you have gone too far!"

Charlesworth cited Marital and money problems as the reasons for his actions.

I watched it last week too. I didn't realise John had died until I was reading cast biographies. He did a fine job in the film.

For a person to leave 3 suicide notes he must of been
in a lot of emotional pain.
Or he really wanted to make the people left behind to
    feel guilty.
    Carolyn(1958-2009) always in my heart.

From what I've read, I believe it was the fact he was suffering emotionally.

Are there any pictures of him as an adult?

Glyn Dearman who played Tiny Tim had an untimely death - fell down a staircase - and was rather young too.

    I'm chuckling a bit now.

    When I said young - I didn't mean 20/30 years young....since I'm in my 40's I consider 57 young.

The closer you get to old age - the more the ruler slides as to what is old and young.
