Connie Joy states mitigation hearing Sept 19-23, sentencing Sept 26th.
Jimmy's gonna miss the summer in an AZ prison ...
Reading Connie Joy's book ... idiocy, thousands spent to play silly games, the type first time employees play in corporate, (trust, blindfold, scavenger hunt's)
Ray ridicule's those who drink soda, use sweetener's and drink coffee, while he uses HGH, Roids and Botox ...
(Half way through Connie Joy's book. She spends more time as a JAR apologist than in dealing with the facts of who this man is).

Done with the damned book
Needs to be retitled ... Connie Joy's Spiritual Journey, included 13 pages on the Sweat Lodge.
What was she doing a few days after two deaths and numerous injuries? Appearing at a JAR World Wealth Summit, hugging Ray.
Meh ...

Daily Courier AZ ...
Val Ripley, jury foreman interview
http://www.dcourier.com/main.asp?Sec...rticleID=97262
Snipped ...
"We were very close to the manslaughter conviction," Ripley said. "Eight of us wanted manslaughter, and the other four felt that he wasn't aware of all that those people were going through."
Taking double jeopardy into account, it is highly unlikely that a successful argument could be made for allowing Ray to be charged with the manslaughter he was acquitted of should Darrow grant a new trial.

Hippo ...
Tuesday morning meeting with Judge Darrow, lawyers from both sides to discuss how they will proceed.
Tom Kelly or another attorney from AZ may be needed. I don't know if Li and Do as CA attorney's can proceed without AZ counsel.
Vacated ... judge to set new date for mitigation and new date for sentencing.

James Arthur Ray a little skeered he'll serve time ...
http://www.prescottaz.com/main.asp?S...rticleID=98251
Ray told the probation officer that he was responsible for the sweat lodge but that he is not a threat to society. He said he wanted to apologize to the victims' families but he hasn't been allowed to contact them, nor did he think it was appropriate to do so at an earlier time.
He denied being responsible for the sweat lodge through the entire trial blaming the problems on the heated rock carrier, Ted, and Angel Valley Resort.
Ray made no attempt to contact the families, he left town, did not even go to the hospital where two were pronounced dead and one lay dying.

James Ray is so full of shit. If you read about him, he exhibited a pattern of unconcern about his followers for years.
This is just spin control.

Being that I am Native American I feel like I need to weigh in on this case and some of the comments that were made early on. The fear that natives have with this case is that people will take the misinformation and actions of James Ray and think badly of our traditions. Which by the comments made, is certainly what has happened. I take part in sweat lodges, drumming circles and other native traditions. I guess that makes me a sweaty, smelly, bad heathen hippie? Wrong, It makes me someone who holds on to their heritage and am proud of our traditions. It's when scam artists like this man take those traditions and pervert them that they become a bad thing. Fasting is not unhealthy and very cleansing if done properly. I fast now and again but even early natives knew that fasting means no food, not no water. The body needs water to survive. Common sense would tell anyone that. Think about what percentage of the human body is made of water. Everyone fasts a small amount each night. That is why is called "breakfast" = break fast. I guess I am just disappointed in some of the comments that were made against these practices. That being said, has there been any updates on the Lakota suit against Ray?
Also, many thanks to those who have been keeping everyone updated on this case. I didn't follow after the casey anthony case had started. my sincere hope is that out of this, laws will be passed so that these "guru's" are kept in check and other people's culture can not be exploited by those who don't understand their purposes.

To Lorenathered:
Of course I can only speak for myself, but from what I have heard, there is a lot of outrage about James Ray distorting Native traditions. I have not heard anyone say anything negative about sweat lodges or fasting in general--it seems pretty obvious that James Ray either did not know what he was doing, or he DIDN'T CARE what he was doing, and it was his carelessness and lack of concern which caused the disaster.
I have been following this case from Day One on several different boards, and I have heard nothing against Native Americans at all, only about Ray cherry-picking different things from different cultures and pretending to be an expert on all of them.

WELL.
I am very disappointed in the sentence. However, at least this pushover judge didn't give probation only.
I would not have been able to stomach the smirk on James Ray's face if he had gotten probation.

The expanded Dateline I was told had nothing new to offer. I was able to watch the mitigation hearing online and it was heart wrenching. JAR had a minimum of two years but with funding cutbacks in Arizona he may be released early, April 2013.
After agreeing to pay the victim's families $57,000.00 for travel/lodging expenses incurred during the trial, his attorney within days of filing an appeal declared JAR was without funds.
The scamming continues ...

JAR still attempting to claim indigency to avoid paying $57,000.00 to the victims for travel to the trial. Prosecution team led by Sheila Polk, questioning JAR's claims.
Hearing postponed
He says he cannot afford the cost of certified copies of the court record and the transcripts he needs to appeal his conviction on three counts of negligent homicide and his 2-year prison sentence.
Ray's attorneys say he's $11 million in debt. They're representing him pro bono on appeal.

If it's proven he's 11 mil in debt, it would be nice to have him locked up until the last cent is paid off. But of course it don't play like that.

James Arthur Ray withdraws indigency claim
http://www.dcourier.com/main.asp?Sec...ticleID=103091
In December, Ray petitioned Judge Warren Darrow for indigent status, claiming he was more than $11 million in debt, with very few assets on the plus side of the ledger. Nearly half of that claimed debt, however, was for civil settlements paid by his insurers. The financial statement he filed in December, which he also withdrew this week, stated he owed his attorneys $5.6 million.
During an early January hearing, Ray's local attorney, Tom Kelly, said that Ray only wanted the public defender's office to pay for the cost of transcripts that are required for the appeal. Those transcripts, from a four-month criminal trial, will cost around $40,000, and the current motion indicates that other arrangements have been made for payment. Most of the transcripts are already on file with the court of appeals, but an appeal brief has not yet been submitted.
