Jackson was one of the original Veejays for the MTV Network beginning in 1981 as a cameraman, and gradually moving up to veejay before he left the music station in 1986. He also had a varied career before and after working at MTV as both a popular DJ and television reporter for both television stations and radio stations like KTMV 94.7 in Los Angeles, California, KLOS, KROQ, KDAY, KMPC-FM, KWST, KABC, and Channel 7 Eye Witness News, among many others. He also used his voice in the 1976 film, "Car Wash", as the radio DJ, was host of the television series, "120 Minutes" in 1986, he composed the music heard in the films, "Summer School Teachers" (1974), and "Badge 373" (1973), as well as narrating the documentary, "The Van Halen Story: The Early Years" in 2003. Jackson was also one of the first DJ's to play music by artists such as 'Platinum Blonde' on Los Angeles area radio stations and also interviewed many music stars including Chrissie Hynde, Pat Benatar, and U2. Jackson passed away suddenly on March 17, 2004, after suffering a heart attack while driving his car.
