I am not a basketball follower but he is one of the names I remember from childhood.
I met him in the early '80's at the Playboy Mansion. I'd walked up to one of the bars set up outside in the backyard to get a drink. Wilt walked up next to me, turned to face me (even though I was facing the bartender but saw Wilt out of the corner of my eye) and just stared like six inches from my face. I turned to look for a second and then looked back at the progress on my drink. I'm six feet tall and back then I'd wear big ol' heels when I felt like it. So I was not much shorter than he was at the time.
Wilt never said a word. Just continued to stare for what seemed like forever while I waited for my drink. After I got my drink, I just walked away. Creepy.

I find his record off of the court far more interesting than his player stats.
Correct.

20,000 women, when did Wilt sleep?
In 1991, Chamberlain wrote his second autobiography, A View from Above. There, the lifelong bachelor Chamberlain claimed he had sex with 20,000 women. For this to be true, he would have had to have sex with more than nine women a week, starting when he was 15 and continuing for 40 years. Quickly, he became target for jokes and jibes, and fellow African American superstar Arthur Ashe was highly critical, blasting Chamberlain for embarrassing black men and fueling prejudices about their sexual behavior. Chamberlain defended himself: ??I was just doing what was natural ?? chasing good-looking ladies, whoever they were and wherever they were available? and pointed out he never started a relationship with a married woman.
In a 1999 interview shortly before his death, Chamberlain regretted not explaining the sexual climate at the time of his escapades, and warned other men who admired him for it, closing with the words: "Having a thousand different ladies is pretty cool, I have learned in my life I've found out that having one woman a thousand different times is much more satisfying."Chamberlain also acknowledged he never came close to marrying, and had no intention of raising any children.
Chamberlain had a history of heart trouble. In 1992, he was hospitalized for three days following an irregular heartbeat, and in 1999, his situation deteriorated rapidly. After undergoing dental surgery in that year, he lost 50 pounds, was in great pain and seemed unable to recover from the stress. On Oct 12, 1999, Chamberlain died at age 63 in Bel-Air California. His agent Sy Goldberg stated Chamberlain died of congestive heart failure, and for about a month, doctors had been draining his legs of fluid that had accumulated because of the heart problem. He was survived by sisters Barbara Lewis, Margaret Lane, Selina Gross and Yvonne Chamberlain, and brothers Wilbert and Oliver Chamberlain.
20,000 women and his first name is Wilt? Mebbe he should have been named "stiffy".
Performing my signature monkey hump move since 10/16/2007...
RIP Dad- 11/14/1947 to 12/16/2013
He did claim to have never messed with a married woman... if true, gotta respect the man for that. I liked how he said being with thousands of women was cool but being with one woman a thousand times was better.
He had a nose for coke. That didn't do his heart much good.

No way one man can sleep with 20,000 women in his short lifetime. I don't believe a word of it
those women had sex with all those others he slept with. wonder how std's get started. oh man. c-r-a-z-y
i mean sex, i'm sure there was not sleeping with that man
creem.americas' only rock and roll magazine[as they billed themselves accurately,i think] has a picture of debby harry sitting in wilts lap with the caption"and that's just my pinky".

20,000? I think Wilt added extra zeros in there. Like four of 'em.
Besides, how would he keep count?
Reporter: "Wilt. How many women did you have sex with?"
Wilt: "Uh let's see. 10...40...265...300... Uh 20,000. Yeah that's the ticket."
i believe, that he was saying that he would have traded all these one night stands for a single long term relation ship
I believe it's possible. Given the sexual climate in the sixties and seventies, he could have been involved in several orgies. If he was sleeping with 10 or 20 women in a night, he could have achieved 20,000. Gross, but possible.
