Love this show, watched the season premire. Is it just me or does it seem the contestants get more idiotic each season. Some shouldn't even been in a kitchen. I love the over confidant ones that always seem to leave first. I also love the UK version. I watch them on youtube.

I think the contestants do get more idiotic. HK has been on long enough now that people are acting more than wanting to really cook. They all want to have great soundbites. Just like any other reality show, producers are going for more entertainment. Stupid donkeys = entertainment.

My husband and I were talking that this show (though I love it and watch every episode) doesn't prepare the contestants for a job as an Executive Chef. The food is one thing, but management is a huge part of it. No wonder none of the winners keep their jobs.

I love the cocky ones that actually end up finding out that they can't actually cook. I also hope that they get rid of Marisa, Holli, and scary eyebrowed Fran soon.

Fran creeps me out too. They are just such lousy cooks compared to Top Chef I just watch it to see Gordon scream at inept cooks.

But Salvatore can't cook anything. I think they all suck, and none of them should be head chef. The only one I see with any promise, was the girl they tried to kick out last night just because they didn't like her. She was by far the better cook.

I think Salvatore is a mimbo.

So far the only one who seems to have a decent head on his shoulders (even though he screwed up the chicken) is Jason. But we haven't seen much commentary from the others yet either.

Autumn and her salt water should keep it zipped.

Salvatore doesn't need to cook, hell I probably make better pasta than he does anyway.

My husband can't believe how they all kill their palette by smoking. No wonder they can't season properly.

i'm so glad that Scott is gone because not only was he rubbish, but he was completely and utterly up himself.

Maria just totally lost the plot, couldn't handle the pressure at all.

Me and the hubs got to meet Ben in Boston last week; we ate at his restaurant. He is actually a decent guy in person; we got to speak with him for approx 10-15 minutes. He gave us some nice insider-type information on the show (stuff about editing, sabotage, etc).

The really cool part is about 20 minutes after our conversation with him, he sent a complimentary platter to our table as a thanks for watching the show. It had about 10 different items on it -- pates, meats, cheese, various breads, etc. Totally unexpected!

    The food was great, BTW.

That sounds like a great time!

So much of the perception (good and bad) of people on reality shows is editing I think. Because I hear so many times that someone ran into so-and-so from a reality show and they were not at all as they were portrayed.

    ------------

Autumn is still there yet the others say she tries to get by doing as little work as possible. Not exactly a winning trait.

    ------------

And yep, I don't think editing has anything to do with the fact that Jay is indeed gross.

Steve and I are both looking forward to HK tonight! His screaming is a little too much for me but the show is great. I could never get into Master Chef too boring IMO.

I've been watching Chef for years, but my mom just recently started watching with me, and I think she has somewhat of a crush on Chef. She would bug the crap out of me when Kitchen Nightmares was on, now she's bugging me about Master Chef. In the past month, we've watched season 2 of HK and last years MC. I haven't reminded her yet that HK started tonight, I want to surprise her.

OK, Elise is from Pgh so I gotta root for her, but if she continues with that bullying, pushy smart mouth I won't!

I like Master Chef. I don't know the guys name but one of the other judges, the bald guy, has SUCH a dick face I can't stand him. I would much rather have Chef Ramsay screaming and swearing at me all day than this guy's slightly unreadable yet disgusted and disapproving stare.

I didn't get the sugar in the mashed potatoes either. I wonder if she has ever had anyone outside her family try it. Sometimes a family tradition is only good to the family, even if you think it's the best thing ever.

That other judge is one of the reasons I don't watch Master Chef. He is a pompous ass.

We just finished the season premier. Every time they would show Steven I would chuckle. He looks like he should be in an 80's porn. Also, the one dude, Tommy, looks like Mr. Bentley from the Jeffersons. It's too early to have a favorite yet, but I've taken a liking to Jonathan.

I still like Kitchen Nightmares the best...love seeing Gordon interact with so many
different people in a wide variety of restaurants and locations. IMO, this show is the
most fun because it is also the most unpredictable.

I like it too. Seems as though Gordon seems more down to earth-i guess because he's in Europe and he's involved in what he's used to. Good show.

OMG Gemmie, he DOES!!! That is HILARIOUS!!! I commented last night to Gene that I thought he was so odd-looking, but I couldn't place it!

I dunno if anyone watches Dexter, but Chino looks exactly like Masuka - lol -

Bassetlover, I agree - Brendan had to go - when Ramsay asked him to show him the bass he threw away I LOL'd - and, ewwww, Carrie is a P.I.G.!!! She thinks she's all that, and she isn't!!!

Hahhaha he does look like Mr. Bentley. I was thinking he reminded me of Noel Fielding a bit, but definitely more Mr. Bentley.

THAT GUY! Yes, I call him the angry baby guy, because he looks like an ugly baby with a 5 o'clock shadow. He's a real dick when he wants to be.

You know what I don't understand about this guy.
After the theatre they go to HK and cook their famous dishes,
I'm no rocket scientist but I'm assuming these people did not bring their own fixins.
If this idiot puts canned pineapple that means there's canned pineapple ALREADY in the kitchen. What does Hells Kitchen used canned pineapple for?
I am in no way shape or form sticking up for this moron but I do raise an interesting point.
