As many of you know I'm deaf in one hear and can't hear out of the other.
I never let it get me down, and the only thing I miss is music and never having heard the voices of my youngest niece and nephew.
I live a normal life, mostly. No worries, no problems, except for a few asstwats who do not want to bother with me because i am deaf. Seriously. I have had customer service people actually roll their eyes at me, a pawn shop broker who told me point blank that he didn't do business with deaf people, a company who said they would have to put my job application before the board to get it approved--which is not normal hiring procedure for a drone, and a few auto insurance companies, namely State Farm, that allowed as how they would have to check with their underwriter before they would do business with me. Yet, when I got my driver's liscense 30 years ago the Georgia State Patrol told me that as long as I could see it didn't matter about my hearing.
Tonight I used my relay service to call in a delivery from Pizza Hut. Called them twice. First time I was put on hold forever. Second time they hung up on me. (In both calls the relay operator explained the Relay service.) I suppose they were busy at 8pm and the relay service is a bit slow, but so fucking what? My money is as good as a hearing person's and I was insulted, let me tell ya. Maybe I took it too personally, but that's to bad. I yam what I yam and I expect to be treated with respect.
I am boiling mad right now and I will never never never eat at Pizza Hut again.
