    FAD Get Together?

I wanted to try this - If anyone is up for it. I want to initiate a Colorado FAD event, lunch or something. Anyone interested? Of course anyone who can swing it is welcome to come, but this will be in Denver. We could even arrange to meet at the local "celebrity" cemetery called Fairmount.
    Thoughts?

    Death Hag Conference?!! Please!

Everyone here always talks about meeting up. Since we are all spread around the world maybe Scott with the help of a group of people would consider doing a Death Hag Conference. You know, with dinners, maybe some workshops, some ghost tours....

I have done 3 large national conferences for different organizations. I think it would be a hit! They really aren't to hard to plan once you have a location....

    What do you all think???

It's a good idea. It comes up once in a while, but it never seems to go anywhere.

I believe at one point a bunch of people had gone so far as to figure out the central-most point in the US, as a starting point for location hunting.

I think it was Colorado, which surprised the hell out of me. Is anyone else remembering this conversation? It was back in the fall or late summer I think. There should be a thread about it somewhere.

You'd want to make it a weekend wouldn't you? Lots of folks would be coming a long way for just a one day stay.

Its neat to think of things like this but in all reality they just never work. People say they are gonna come you rent a big barn out in the middle of no where and cater a bill of about 4k and get it all set up and the big day arrives and 4 people show up out of the 300 that were supposed too. Not a good turn out. I think people just get scared.

dude, i never said i'd PAY for it! lol...

you are right tho. i thought more of a "get -together". it doesn't have to be 100 of us...whoever can make it. i'd be willing to make plans if people actually made an effort and commitment to come.

When I posted earlier I was kind of talking about an actual convention type of thing. Where there would be a few days worth of activities and everyone would pre-pay for meals, activities etc.

It is actually surprising when people pay before hand that most of them do show. Most of the time for a convention you have to pay a registration fee that covers office expenses, mailers all of that. Usually you can do a survey of members and get a feel for how many would be interested and go from there. Maybe Scott could send out a email bomb to all of the FAD members and see how many would be interested.

I am surprised no one has done anything with the idea....

    I would help!

Sounds cool, keep us posted. I agree Shano when people have to pay upfront they tend to show up. People should go because they want to go, not because they think people would not attend because of them. Silly.

I'll come. I will even help if needed. The Schlitzie Memorial was a great success, and it would be great to meet other death hags in person!

well, unfortunately i can't travel. but if we want to tack a time of the year down i would be willing to organize a get together in Colorado late summer, early fall. if people want a CONFERENCE, i suggest hitting up FAD and Scott (via a forma email/letter inquiry?) - my assumption is something like THAT would be in the City of Angels.

Hay Ruby! Sorry about not traveling.

I did send a message to Scott about a Conference. Hopefully he will reply. *crosses fingers*

We would need you there though Ruby!

I wonder... I guess that would be up to Scott. Humm. I don't see why if they had knowledge of a conference why they couldn't come, as long as they are good! lol

When you do things like that you have an open registration. You can't really deny people from coming I don't believe.

But again I guess it would be up to Scott.

It might be easier, instead of having one big conference that a lot of people just couldn't get to, to have a weekend set aside and have multiple simultaneous meetings in larger cities. Instead of people in NYC trying to get to Vegas on March 3, for example, have everyone in NYC get together in one place in NYC on March 3 and laptop it in. Same for Los Angeles, Seattle, East Pudnut...everyone finds a large city or meeting place and interwebs from there, the same day.

that sounds good... a regional death hag conference. but then i wouldn't see duster or all my east coast friends.
