    Date of Birth
19 August 1928, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA

    Trivia

Claimed to have given Marilyn Monroe her stage name. Luez met Norma Jean Baker in an acting class and claimed that it was her suggestion that 'Norma Jean' change her name to Marilyn Monroe, theorizing that one should choose an already famous name (Monroe, after President James Monroe) and another already famous name (Marilyn, after Marilyn Miller) to distinguish it.

Made her stage debut at age 3 dancing the hula.

The exotic, photogenic beauty whose measurements were 34-24-35 graced such magazines as Esquire and Life, as well as in soap commercials.

Once engaged to producer 'Samuel Goldwyn, Jr.', she broke it off to marry Greek-born director Gregg C. Tallas. They divorced after only three months of marriage.

    She didn't.
The two knew one another and in fact were featured together in a LIFE magazine article on 'Hollywood's New Starlets' back around 1949,1950. Also featured in the article were JANE NIGH, DOLORES GARDNER, LOIS MAXWELL (later Bond' Miss Moneypenny), CATHY DOWNS & RICK SOMA (later the wife of John Huston and mother of Angelica; she committed suicide in 69 I believe). I'm missing one or two but it's been decades since I saw the article, so tuf.
Anyway, MONROE had already chosen her professional name before she met LUEZ. I loved it when MONROE' first husband JAMES DOUGHERTY was one of the guests featured on a segment of LARRY KING along with some others who had known her. MICKEY ROONEY stated that he'd (also) named her and how he'd helped her to choose the name of MARILYN MONROE. DOUGHERTY interrupted him and said that she chose it herself; how so many have tried to take credit over the years for having done so and that it was bunk that she'd done it herself * and afterall as he pointed out 'he was there !' ROONEY kept his mouth shut after that. Pity; If only the topic had turned to JUDY..............

    * ROONEY, TONY CURTIS, SHELLEY WINTERS, BEN LYON, LAURETTE LUEZ and on & on..............they've all insinuated (a) greater importance into MONROE'S life than what had actually taken place.
