Bobby Hollander was alittle on the disgusting side. In this video he is making a pitch for one of his new flicks, but he introduces Shauna Grant and she comes out and speaks.

Yea, Hollander was a pig. He croaked before I could interview him. I know he would have said yes to the interview because he was a publicity hound. He is a carbon copy of porn dudes from that era.
I have seen that video before.
It was Hollander who introduced Colleen to Jake Erlich, her older bf and at who's house she was found shot. Erlich was Hollanders dealer.
Hollander incidentially, died at a VA Hospital, which tells me at the end of his life, he was in all liklihood, broke.
She was absolutely gorgeous but she should have never left Minnesota.
I HATE what drugs (in those years, COCAINE) does to people. In that video with Hollander, Colleen's eyes are glassy and there's a coldness there, too. I saw it a thousand times in people (including myself) during my own wild years. Illegal drugs are so unbelievably evil.
Thanks for all the pics, Marion. Colleen was a beautiful young girl. Lisa, thanks for all the extra information. I can't wait to read your book either. Such and heartbreaking story and waste of a young life.
That documentry film about her and the behind the scene footage of her were she is being interviewed and she snorts sevrals times and just looks awful....I mean she still looks beautiful but its heartbreaking.....poor girl.
Apparently negatives of Shauna's last photo session which were thought for years to have been lost, have been found...
Los Angeles- Legendary soft-core and pin-up photographer Lance Kincaid has announced the discovery of a rare cache of long-lost black & white photographic negatives, contact sheets, and photos of the late Shauna Grant (real name Colleen Applegate), one of the most famous and controversial XXX stars of all time who committed suicide in 1984.
The materials will now be put up for sale on Kincaid’s glamour-photo auction website.
Kincaid, who began covering the adult entertainment over 43 years ago as a glamour studio photographer, came across the thought-to-be-destroyed box of pix of Grant while renovating his property last week in Los Angeles. The photos were taken shortly before her tragic death just before her 21st birthday, as Grant sought to make a transition out of porn into “straight modeling.”
“I had photographed Shauna on many, many occasions, from the first day she got into porn when she had just turned 18. But this shoot was special, it was the last time she posed for any photographer, and it was meant to create a special black and white portfolio for her to try to get out of porn,” recalls Kincaid.
“It was her portfolio of photos that was to be her ticket to a different, better life outside of the porn business. We took all kinds of pictures, she picked the ones she wanted, and we printed them all up and she was ready to go out on interviews with legitimate modeling agencies. She was all set, she h ad everything she needed, but she never got to use them. She told me it was her ‘portfolio of hope’, it was her passport out, she told me.”
But Grant never got a chance to use the never-before-seen pix, instead putting a gun to her head in a bizarre suicide shortly thereafter. All of the negatives and photos from the photo-session at Kincaid’s Tarzana, California studio were believed to have been lost in the chaos that followed her death. But apparently at some point someone shipped the materials back to Kincaid’s busy Los Angeles office, where it was tossed, un-opened, into a crowded storage space, and forgotten about (and further buried under boxes after the 1994 California earthquake)—until last week.
“It was quite a shock, I hadn’t seen these photos in close to 25 years. And to see the original contact sheets, where Shauna herself had personally circled the pictures she wanted re-produced, it really brought back the memories,” says Kincaid.
Ironically the last time anyone ever saw the long-missing pictures, was when they appeared briefly in an award-winning documentary produced by PBS’s show Frontline about Grant’s life and death, called “Death of A Porn Queen.” In that film the producers went to Grant’s Reseda, California apartment shortly after her death, and continued filming as Grant’s landlady rummaged through her belongings, at one point opening up a folder and pulling out the pix.
“I saw that documentary, and couldn’t believe it, they pulled out the photos we took that day and gave to Shauna,” says Kincaid, “There were these photos, they actually filmed them for a moment, and that was the last anyone ever saw of them. They simply disappeared. Until I just found them this week when I was moving some old crates of files around.”
Kincaid had a close relationship with Grant, and she often stayed at his LA home which he shared with adult video producer Bobby Hollander—who actually “named” Grant when she first came into the X-biz via the Jim South World Modeling agency in 1982 at the age of 18.
Although the pretty Minnesota-born blonde Grant appeared in less than 40 XXX tapes during her short carnal career (“Shauna Grant Superstar” “Summer Camp Girls,” “Suburban Lust” were some of her titles), she was seen by many as the first real “porn celebrity,” coming into prominence at time of technological transition from film to video, and was considered the leading lady of her era.
The recovered photos show Grant in various types of outfits, poses, and photographic situations never before caught on-camera. Ranging from playing with her dog, to bikini, underwear and other soft and glamour-style set-ups, the shots—which include some nudes—clearly demonstrate her desire to re-invent herself with a portfolio of non-X-rated material. According to Kincaid, a number of the shots, which did not come out well, can now be optically enhanced to bring out the lost images in full.
“Her make-up was done that day by Lori Smith, a fellow porn star, and best friend. But we purposely did her make-up in a very subdued and clean ‘non-porn’ way, so that she would look beautiful, not trashy. They are really one-of-a-kind, and show Shauna in a way she has never been seen before,” according to Kincaid.

Wow Jack, thanks for that info! Wonder if I can afford to buy some of them when he puts them up?
I had wondered what happened to Kincaid, and I remember the shots he is talking about that the landlord pulled out of the top of a closet when Al Austin visited. As far as I know, those items were sent back to her mother and who knows what happend to them now.
Do you have a link you can PM me to Kincaid's site? I'm not sure if the mods would consider the link porn.
What ever happened to Lori Smith? Does anyone know? And also Barbara Dare, who was also in the PBS show on Colleen. I always feel relieved when I hear of people escaping that sometimes hellish industry and reinventing themselves later on. I am certain the business today is still rife with lowliving creatures like Bobby Hollander was, so when someone can get away from all of that and go on to live a more peaceful existence outside the industry, I am always happy and grateful to hear it.
John
Barbara Dare was only on the PBS show becuase she was up and coming at the trade show. I do not think she had any link to Colleen. Laurie Smith left the biz shortly after Colleen's death. She did return for a short time. I have tried over and over to find her, but have been unsucessful. She was from Huntington Beach, CA so I might look there. I also have someone looking into SAG since another poster mentioned she was in a mainstream movie and might have been a member.
I would love to see the photos of her poor girl......
Thanks for the info. I'd like to se those pics as well.
@lisalouver: Do you know definitely when Shauna did her first suicide attempt? On Wikipedia I read that it was in December 1981, but according to http://www.geocities.com/murder_stories3/shauna2.html they wrote that it was in a summer night shortly after she left school. What is right?
Greetings
Bernd

The pill overdose that you are speaking of did indeed take place in 1981 after she had already graduated and was working for the phone company in Farmington. I would have to check my notes to see what the exact month was, but she took too many sinus pills after a heated exchange with Mike Marcell. The overdose was not life-threatening.
Even if it was not life-threatening in fact, did she really intend to kill herself (in your opinion) or was it only an attempt to get more affection from her parents?
I would like to correct it in Wikipedia if it is wrong there, because it makes some difference if she went to California 3 or 9 months after her overdose. If you stumble across some day you could write it here.
Thank you and greetings
Bernd
Sure he'll help strangers in traffic, but he doesn't care a damn thing about his dead ex-girlfriend. What an ass.Ol Mike Marcell is still around the neighborhood. I just found an article of him talking to the local news media here during some bad traffic on a very cold and icy day here. He was trying to help others in traffic.
Anyway, Lisa, this story now has me intruiged, as well. Keep us posted on when the book will be out. I know with all us death hags we can definitely make it a best seller! Lots of luck in getting all you're looking for.
I also just wanted to say thanks for all the pictures. She was a beautiful girl.

I've seen the pictures from her first nude photo session, and she didn't look like she was comfortable in the situation...
she seemed scared ...and who wouldent be with creepy guys like that hovering over her every move waiting to juice her up with whatever drugs are available...so sad...like when you look at photos of her and you think wow she took herself out..poor little girl......
Thankyou!!! Call me old fashioned....I guess I just am at least Im not alone!!
I think Jenna Jameson deserves as much respect for her business savvy as Mary Kay Ash or Estee Lauder. She parlayed men's fantasies into a lucrative career and just because she was a porn star doesn't make her sleazy or dirty (in my opinion). That being said I'm sure she had a lot of men behind her pulling the strings.
She looks like holy hell though.
I thought Jonna Lee was excellent in Shattered Innocence and I've often wondered why she left the business. Like Colleen, Jonna was (is) a real knockout.
lisa:
any update on how the book is going?...
Yes,it would be interesting to know about the book.
