Why do women watch Lifetime?

Why in the hell does a woman watch a show dedicated to the male pig? Cheaters, wife beaters, liars and all the scum of the earth men they can find. My wife watches it non stop and cries like a child and all I see is a drunk beating the hell out of a 110 pound woman. Black eyes and make up. What is the deal? Lifetime! Itâ??s for real.

i love lifetime movies... i can't tell you why exactly.... a lot of time they have true crime movies, like Betty Broderick, or Beverly Yaklich.... i think part of why i like them so much is they have movies with all of these semi washed up B,C, & Dlisters in them, like Loni Anderson, Cheryl Ladd, Valerie Bertinelli, etc....

a lot of times the powerless woman ends up kicking the asshole man's butt... guess you could say these are precautionery tales.... stay away from asshole men, cuz they're no good!

Lifetime is a cable television channel geared towards women, they show alot of tearjerker movies and shows, mainly where a woman is the main person of the story.
I watch when there is something interesting on, mainly stories based on true life crimes

Not really big on Lifetime or Oxygen although I do like Snapped.

I guess it would be like asking some men why they watch ESPN.

Ugh, I refer to Lifetime as Television for Victims. I LOATHE Lifetime, and I'm quite female, thanks.

If it's not baseball (GO RED SOX!), football, or CSI or other crime programs? I don't give a shit. So, Lifetime is NOT on my list.

Isn't Lifetime like Harlequin Romance novels in TV movie mode? I mean Romance novels are female porn, so it would follow.

You know if you would actually give the channel a chance it's more thriller movies then anything. True stories. Celebrity stories! Now why do men watch sports? Why do you feel the need to walk around scratching your balls infront of the TV hogging the remote. We watch Lifetime cause we KNOW it's something you men don't watch! I still love ya'll though ~ huggles ~

some probably are, but the ones i like are about true crimes, generally... i love that one with valerie bertandernie where her sister is killed by her psycho husband, and valerie and her husband have to fight the psycho in laws to get to keep the baby! another favorite is blind faith about this asshole guy (played by robert urich) who pays some guys to kill his wife
(joanna kerns) at a rest stop on the way home from atlantic city...

saw one the other night about ted amman and his wife generosa, both of whom are now dead...... it portrayed her as a complete psycho....

just so's ya knows

No one told me I was supposed to be doing that. Well! Even if they did I wouldn't though.

We have DirecTV and anytime I'm going through the guide and have noticed something on that channel, it's usually because it's some ridiculously bad sounding tv movie of the week I didn't watch the first time around. "Loves Lost Hanky" or some such nonsense.

Bleah.

I watched it once. They had a movie on about Richard Ramirez. It was cheesy but I liked it. I wish I knew what the movie title was.

I haven't watched Lifetime in a really long time. I tend to forget about channels that aren't on my "Favorites" button (how lazy is that?). Court TV, BBC America, Food Network and PBS get a lot of play in the house. And the hubby is addicted to those awful SciFi Channel movies of the week, that look like they were all shot in the same warehouse, and are about either some giant killer animal or a weird natural disaster that would never happen, like "Killer Sun Spots".

Here's my theory: Some women watch those movies because it makes their lives feel better... "I'm not with a bad guy, that poor woman... too bad she's not with a nice guy like mine" and some watch because they can relate "my guy is just like this scum bag, I need to get out". Then there are those who just have a broken remote and don't feel like getting up.

If you are a Gay man you are in the majority. A lot of Gay guys like Lifetime. My best friend won't answer the phone when I call him if he's got a Lifetime movie on!

I like a few of the old ones. I really liked those old Nancy McKeon movies - "Firefighter", and "Cry for Help - The Tracy Thurman Story" - which was pretty good, altho brutal.

Perhaps the question is, why does a man assume women as a whole watch Lifetime? Myself I don't recall watching anything off of it; and now that you've described it, I doubt I will even moreso lol

Sometimes folks watch stuff like that to remind themselves they're alive or lucky that they don't go through such things. Could be many things really, some of which might not be completely dissimilar as to why some people visit FAD ...

Killer Among Friends was GREAT! Patty Duke, Jodi Foster and Tiffani Amber Theisen...is that the right movie?

I've seen some entertaining shows on Life Time... I've also been trapped in a marathon with a certain lady who LOVED watching Life Time. I think a fair counter question would be... "Why do men love watching sporting events on TV". Personally, and I can care less about seeming less macho, I would rather go outside and stare at the grass as it grows then watch a baseball game or any other sporting event on tv. It's not really a gender thing, it's more of an interest thing but I would take a guess and say if Life Time lost its entire female audience they would probably go out of business just as the Yankees would if every man in NY decided to give up Baseball.

I'll bring the popcorn if you two let me join in!!

I have it on ALL SUNDAY..and let it run all day...I catch movie after movie..."Lifetime Sunday"...some are based on real stories, some fiction...I leave it on as I do house work or cook...

I think I like it so much, rather than sitting and reading romance novels...its an escape! Its my escape from thinking about things going on my own life...instead I'm watching someone else's problems!!

The recent Lifetime movie I liked the most was First Born, with Elisabeth Shue. This movie is about a women dealing with post-partum psychosis.

I have always liked Elisabeth Shue and thought she did a pretty good acting. The ending is very heartbreaking, I'm warning you...

no i do not watch lifetime on the regular. once in a blue moon, and also the acting is cheesy. i do not want to see women getting beatdown, raped, killed and everything else everyday. i watched one movie where the husband got with another woman and got her pregnant and took the baby to his baren wife and said the child was adopted but actually his. then told the other woman she was crazy and it was not her baby and she had to do what she had to do to get the baby back. sick on his part. i don't want to see that on the regular and also i hate to say it but alot of those women on those movies are very weak. not all women are as weak as those lifetime women. all the men are scum according to lifetime. all of us do not have f'ed up husbands and boyfriends.
