And besides she does fit in there with David...the entertainment section. LOL

She is a joke!!! I mean they know David would never make fun of a 14 year old being raped or getting pregant! Like I said its all about 2012!!!

    Go David!!!!!
I have to agree and I don't think it's right to exploit your children for 15 minutes of fame.

FAT CHANCE that will ever happen. Hillary will be that person in 2016 after Obama's second term.
That's a mighty big assumption. The economy will have to hold out and it won't, of course. Inflation sunami on its way (not to mention the crushing debt load).

I salute this post!! So freaking true!!

I love how people think Obama can fix the country in 5 months with all the shit he was left with. Nobody, Dem or Rep, can fix the mess W left behind. I am so thankful he is gone. Like I said before, Letterman isn't known for his tact, but obviously neither is Palin. Don't shove your kids in the spotlight, and you won't have to worry about the repercussions of it.

Don't lump us all in one catagory please. I've always been a regsitered democrat but I've never voted straight Dem in my life. Jimmy Carter was ineffective, not a bad president. He was and is a good man. Johnson was an ass, as well as a horrible president, I agree. In MY lifetime, GWB, was and is the WORST president. BY FAR!!

See there you go... We are democrats but we're not radicals. Why do we have to be? I vote for the candidate not the party. The Dem party in general goes along with my views thus I am a Democrat. I am a liberal but I'm open to listen to anyone who has an idea to right a wrong or do some good for my country.

Hang on, did I miss something? In what book is Teddy Kennedy a hero?

The right wing has their shit slinging as does the left. Ultimately, more popular entertainers tend to be lib dems. Not their fault. O'Reilly (God I cringe just typing that) and others have their platforms as well.

I don't recall anyone hailing Teddy Kennedy a hero.

When Ted Keddedy was 1st diagnosed with brain cancer, there was a bunch of commentators and colleagues calling Kennedy a Hero. I found this on the web. Someone set up a Wall of Support for Ted. Here is one of the comments. Ann Maguire expresses their support and sympathy for Ted Kennedy and family: "Senator Kennedy has been my hero and i love him. He has worked for the poor and elderly and for those in need all his adult lifer" http://www.experienceproject.com/mk/...ed-kennedy.php People always make some comment about Fox News when they want to make a comment about the right. They are only one station. They rest of of the media is in the more liberal camp. I don't care about your leanings as long as you articulate it well. Letterman would be asking for an apology too if someone was making jokes about his wife and son.

Well, Ann Maguire is one person, and to her he's a hero for his work with the poor, etc. Yes, Ted Kennedy caused the death of Mary Jo Kopechne, and it is a horrible thing. But there are other politicians who have caused the deaths of many more people than just one and they are called heroes as well, and usually by citizens en masse. What's your point?

Letterman already apologized and acknowledged that that joke was in poor taste. And of course he'd be asking for an apology if it were his kid--as would any parent. But he apologized...are apologies no longer valid? What more can he do? Sarah Palin needs to take the apology and shut the eff up already instead of grandstanding around about it.

They showed the apology on TV and most commentators on the right and left thought that it was weak.
He said do I apologized, he said, 'YES'.
Then he said ""SORT OF", There are a lot of jokes I regret telling".

Kind of like a back handed apology.

Palin didn't see the show initially. Some Radio guy asked her about it and she gave her response.

The media blew this up becuase they like conflict.

Letterman's joke was in poor taste. However, he did apologize-whether it was heartfelt or sincere will of course be up for debate. Particularly by the media-as said earlier, they love conflict.

But Palin reminds me of my 3 year old here. My 2 year old will push her. She pushes back. He walks away. She follows him and pushes again, to keep it going. Same thing here. Letterman pushed. Palin pushed back. Letterman "walked away" with an apology and invite to appear on the show if she'd like. Rather than just saying "No, thank you", Palin is keeping it going. It honestly doesn't make her look like she'd have been a good Vice President. If a foreign country's representative made a comment about Willow, would she have escalated it into an international incident? Maybe not, but at this point, she doesn't look like she's able to keep herself in check if need be.

    .

The situation with Imus caused a bigger media scandal with his statement about the Rutger's woman basketball team. Imus called ' HOs".

Imus did give a sincere apology. These group kept on screaming for him to be taken off the air and have his sponsers taken away.

Imus even met with the team in person to apology and they accepted.

I remember all these women's groups said it was demeaning for Imus for him to call these women HOs.
Now it OK for Letterman to say the Palin looks like a slutty airline stewardess.
ITs OK to advocate to statuatory rape of a 14 year old.

I accept the fact that people who talk for a living sometimes cross the lines, but why are people so selective on who says these things and who should be punished for it?

But unlike Dave Imus did everything humanly possible to fix the sitsuation. He publically went on and said he was truly sorry for the comments he made againt the Rutgears womens basketball team. He went on national tv shows and even Al Sharptons talk show saying how sorry he was. Even met with the team and said to them all how sorry he was. The women forgave him for his comments. Still his radio show was given the axe. PMSNBC also scrapped his tv show. Hence why Ive always called CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, and CNN the democratically run Obama Mania Media. Imus supported the republicans on his shows on tv and radio. Letterman used to be so funny. Back when he was on NBC his shows were witty and funny. Now dave is just ...... mean. Had letterman been a republican supporter , im certain hed been shown the door by CBS for his jokes.

No plain wont go away since shes Alaskas governor. She also plans to run in the next Presidental election.

ITA....or at least been pressured to give a real appology. His appology was half-assed at best. Whatever. I just get so irked at the obvious media bias. It is getting so old. When you are more of a politically moderate like I am, or a true Conservative you can really see the bias.

I don't believe Palin will run for President ever....she doesn't have the credentials and she knows it. But I think she will continue to be a 'spokesperson' for the Right for as long as she is given the chance. Oh well. I do think her glasses are cute

I am not a fan of Conan O'Brian so I've been watching Letterman lately but if he comes on and starts talking about Palin I turn him off because he's adding to the problem.

what is it about this woman? unless you lived in Alaska this time last year she was unknown... She was not experienced enough for the VP job and McCain has pretty much said he made a bad choice. She can't even give an interview... Do the conservatives really believe she's going to be the next President? Do the conservatives really think she is thier savior?

In my opinion if you feel that way *giggles to herself* Obama is a shoe in for a second term.

LEt me clarify, Dave knew what the joke implied when he made that apology. He knew the 14 yr was with her.

Frankly I don't care if he made that "joke" about Britney Spears or Paris Hilton. It wasn't funny, and it was demeaning to all women. His apology was a joke - he didn't accept personal responsibility, he didn't acknowledge that he hurt another person, and he didn't retract the statement. He should be punished, just like Imus and "Dog" Chapman were.

How did Rush Limbaugh and George Bush get here?

You don't like Sara Palin because of what she believes in. Fine, but you don't have to call her an idiot or a c--t. It seems like none of you "tolerant" lefties can't express your disapproval of Letterman's foul joke without making sure your party card gets ticketed.

Personally, I think Mr. Palin ought to just punch Dave in the mouth and be done with the whole thing.

    Thanks for outing me.

I remembered a 'Chelsea' comment, attributed to Rush, that people will not forget.

My response to that is that if Rush made a similar comment, there would be more outrage. That would be from all side by the way.

Some people's response to Letterman is that it was 'just a joke'.

The joke was in Bad Taste... In my opinion it wasn't even funny. As I've said many times before I wish Letterman would STOP saying anything about Palin because she's a media whore in my opinion.

Me personally I Hate Rush Limbaugh because he's as Radical as Radical can get without Picking off abortion doctors at church.

Ok folks, there's no reason to take what David Letterman said about Palin's brood personally. In fact, it's time to get back on topic in here. Along with that, please don't quote posts that offend you. Here's a post (that some of you have seen before), from our admin Nick, about why that's not the way to go here:

I'm probably going to end up posting a forum-wide announcement about this and incorporating it into the rules, but please listen:

Quoting a comment that you think is totally out of line or offensive only gives legs to that comment. It doesn't matter if you quote it to say, "Shame on you," or whatever. What you are doing is taking the comment and doubling the number of places it is written. Then someone else sees it and quotes it and now you have the offending comment in three times as many places as it was originally. And so on.

And the more something is repeated, the more it sinks in. So if someone writes, "All Greek men are slimy criminals," and you are a Greek man that takes offense, almost all you are accomplishing by quoting the remark is legitimizing it. And the more ridiculous the original comment, the less helpful it is to quote it.

If someone says an individual deserved a disease and you quote him, to me, as an administrator, you are lending some level of support to his view because you are repeating it and reinforcing it in the minds of readers that otherwise would have just skipped past it or who had a hard enough time reading it in the first place and would rather not see it dredged up again.

Do not quote posts that break forum rules.
