My dad has family in Iloilo City, which is about 200 miles west of Tacloban. His cousins had the roofs ripped off their houses, nobody was hurt though.

Interesting slideshow of where some airport names came from:

SRV is an order of magnitude better than Clapton, who I think is highly overrated. There's no one like Stevie, and there never will be. Shouldn't have boarded that damn choppah. :(
A while back when I caught a FAD Forum member masquerading as an FAA certified FedEx pilot, you informed me that misrepresenting one's true identity was not against Forum rules. This guy posted...
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Would have made a great Science Fair project though. (I would have opted to research the female aspect of this phenomena. :p)
One of the dads of my son's Little League teammate is a recently retired F-18 squadron leader at Marine Corps Naval Airstation Miramar. He told me last week that he landed a job with United...
That's what I've always done. If the stream is almost parallel to the side of the urinal, slashback is non-existent.
Cool, my DW was born in 1965.
Your dad is a man after my own heart. All I want for my daughter is a good man: good character, will treat her with respect, and will pull his own weight and the...
I watched a plane crash documentary that talked about "Engineered Materials Arresting System" or EMAS. It is a special concrete-like material that is installed at the end of runways and can safely...
Very cool. Like my daughter, she owns me but it doesn't mean that dad won't read her the riot act once in a blue moon. We must be around the same age (I was born in 1960).
Reminds me of a joke:
Q. Why do you bury blondes in Y-shaped coffins?
A. Because their legs spread when you lay them down.
I know, bad. Ducking tomatoes in 3..2..1
Yep, one or both of those Cessna jocks is in a heap of trouble.
Exactly. One of my (greater than 2 word) mottos is: Don't hang around people who bring you down.
I didn't take that to heart until I was in my 30's. Improved my life 1000%.
It made me nauseous watching these Pixies jabber on about how they love "their" Orcas and how the Orcas love them. If they really loved those animals they'd quit their jobs and campaign against...
You'd have to find the exact screen part, which will probably be difficult. If you don't need to use the laptop outside the house you can plug it in to a desktop monitor.
Awesome kids
Let's hope not. Obama's not perfect, but anyone who thinks we were better off under George W. Bush is mad.
And the Do-Not-Call registry (for reporting spam phone calls)!
Fingers crossed that this will be the case. You never know in this country, though, as the right wing lunatic fringe is given an inordinate amount of influence.
Very cool and Happy Birthday! She'll have her Mom's aviation acumen as well! :D
Yikes. This might be the NYPD's version of the Rodney King beating.
I thought red was the color of conservative voting states.
There are plenty of conservative Republican attention whores as well.
Yep. Attention Whore Esq.
I thought Allred only represented women.
Definitely a licensed douchebag though.
Add me to the list, I've had my PC camera covered for quite a while.
One of my favorite Far Side cartoons:

The Miramar Airshow has been cancelled at the last minute due to the shutdown. I'm sure there are contracts that will have to be paid whether there's a show or not, so I bet it will cost more to...
Why would the driver need a gun? He had a 3 ton vehicle that could (and did) wipe out more bikers than a piece.
Freakin' biker morons, they deserved everything they got and have coming to them. ...
Don't count on it. Again the GOP has shut the government down in order to pander to their lunatic fringe. Can't wait for the Dems to retake the House in 2014.
Congratulations John! :D
Cool video, thanks for posting!
Looks like Amelia Earhart was way off course! ;)
I think they should have included the Barstow (CA) Station McDonalds, a favorite stop on the way to Vegas:

DC-3 McDonalds in New Zealand. Seriously cool:

I would think that anything biodegradable and not in watertight packaging would be decomposed by now.
I worked for the company (General Instrument) that developed the first HBO encryption/decryption systems. The size of the dishes had nothing to do with scrambling, but with the satellite/receiver...
Bet that truck driver wouldn't have pressed charges if Freda and Greta looked like this:

It's also easier to get sex if you ride a motorcycle instead of a Smart Car. :D
Or...Show your stuff, not your duff. :p
I second that! :D
I wonder if there have been any reports of hauntings at the crash site.
Some 80's electronics are actually coveted. I have an NAD 7155 Receiver that I still use in our TV room. I have a nephew who worked at Best Buy, he actually recognized it even though I bought it...
Here's the one I have (or close to it). It's a Tascam Portastudio:

I bet they have a hard time deciding who wears the strap-on. :p
Sounds like your Tascam 4-track is similar to mine. I remember my deck allowing NR to be switched in or out. It definitely ran at 2x tape speed.
I have an old Teac 4 track cassette deck. Used it for home recording, cost me $800 in the early 90's. What's sick is now you can buy a 32 track digital portable studio for $100 less.
Cool. As I recall Dokorder made very good machines.
In-n-out is omnipresent in SoCal, my family and I LOVE their food. Their burgers are very good, and they have more off-menu items than on-menu (for example, I always get the "3X3": 3 patties and 3...
