I didn't realize Jim Carrey's nephew was dead, but...I guess his sister sued the city where the accident (it sounds pretty horrific - a trailer through the windshield) happened.
That lawsuit has now been settled, and mom's pissed b/c she figures the payout wasn't big enough.
Some people...

The payout wasn't big enough? Dear old mudder.
There's a way to combine those for a total award of almost half a mil. Why don't people or their attorneys think of that shit?
The accident itself is pretty horrific.
No idea how much attorneys charge in Canada or whether there are filing fees for lawsuits or even how the Canadian process works for something like this beyond what's mentioned in the article but...
In this country if someone is married or has dependents and was the sole income earner, $125,000 isn't alot. There are also burial costs and such. And paying some lawyer to file all the crap that goes with a lawsuit.
She'd be lucky to have $10,000 left when she is done here. Which she could kiss goodbye after filing with the supreme court. Shit like that requires a much more specialized attorney.
I like a lot of Jim's movies but not the Ace Ventura one's, I think they were a bit stink.
