I have a picture I want to upload but it is not letting me... Is the size too big? I get a red exclamation point....
I wish I could have been in the photo to show & to remember, myself, I was there.... but I took a few of Dorothy's

Merry Christmas, Dorothy.
Happy 54th bday dorothy
I was 25 when she died ..all those years, what a beautiful life she could have had. Happy Birthday, Dorothy.
watching E!THS on D & each time I watch it it is as if I expect a happier ending. If only that 1 thing didn't happen.......
Question - if Dorothy didn't go over there that day do you think Paul would find another way somehow to find her & kill Dorothy anyway??

I believe, for sure, he would have found another way to kill her.
I guess it goes to show sometimes you can't really convince someone, especially a woman, to do right by yourself & love yourself first....
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Yeah, I think he would have. His ego wouldn't allow it.
Can you imagine being a child & finding out THE DAY OF THE FUNERAL SERVICE.... that that funeral service just happens to be your best friend/sister? God I can't get past that. This is the saddest case of murder- up there with M&M. Its hard for me to 'get over' this & this murder happened 4 years before I was even an idea.

Here is Dorothy's Playboy Story
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Anyone hear of the rumor that Dorothy would tell Paul that she was on her period to avoid intercourse with him. Paul said Dorothy told him she skipped her period in early August 1980 but I think that was just a rousse to him not to have sex with him.
BTW I don't know about anyone else but as much as I love true crime, Dorothy's E!THS (which I know by heart) makes me extremely depressed. I wouldn't be surprised if my depression was caused by this case. I used to be even be able to watch Dorothy's E!THS every other day. Now... there is just no justice in the world. No one deserves this, of all people Dorothy Stratten. She was nothing like a woman of what Paul was even attracted to anyway, he just needed something to control. Anyway I get very sad when I watch it. I just bought True Crime Death & Celebrity off amazon.

I had also heard that Dorothy used her periods as an excuse to not have sex with Paul. According to Peter, Dorothy said she was a few weeks late and they did have sex the night before she was murdered. I honestly don't think that if Dorothy lived she would have stayed with Peter.
I'm thinking maybe you should stop watching the E! story if its causing you depression. It is a very sad and depressing story as you could see she had her whole life ahead of her. Take care!
Sometimes I think if Dorothy had quit Hollywood after marrying Peter she would have gone into law like originally wanted - but I think she might not be able to because she was once a Playboy model. Do you think Dorothy would have been successful even though employers might think twice about hiring a former PB model ?? Or in the 80's that wouldn't matter to employers?
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
So the Playboy fans, I am curious to know how did Playboy change after Dorothy died? It was when Reagan was president & after her death he ushered in a more conservative way of living, correct? So what does that mean? How did Dorothy's death change the way Playboy was viewed in society? The 80s were still somewhat a sexual revolultion..... & then what???
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
I don't think her death affected Playboy in the least. I think she would have been like almost every other playmate in the 80's had she lived. Forgotten. It's nothing against her. It's just how it is. Example: Can anyone name more than one playmate of the 80's without googling? I can name one and only one and that's because she became a b-movie actress and hooked up with a rock star. Famous people that were famous first and then did Playboy don't count! :P She probably would have just lived a normal life after her 15 minutes were up. I don't think being in Playboy would have hurt her employment opportunities.
**Playboy &/or Politics-if so
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
I think the seedy nature of Playboy, the devouring of young, pretty, women as "play things", was magnified horrifically at the time. Hefner had skillfully crafted a culture of "nobody gets hurt" sex, "pregnancy is a party joke that happens to the other guy", "use 'em and lose 'em", based around his wealth and never ending stable of girls who traded their bodies for 15 minutes of fame. Some of them catch a rich guy, a person of middle-level notoriety. She remains pampered, shown off, benefits from the man with whom she is attached. Little else happens afterward. When Dorothy Stratten was murdered so violently, a cornerstone of the Playboy philosophy was torn out. Looking at Playboy's influence and income during the 60's and its fall during the 70's and 80's, one can surmise those who wanted to believe in the image lost faith and rapidly outgrew it.
Miss Stratton's death opened a window on a somewhat seamy world of airbrushed beauties who'd roll over for money.
Playboy has recovered, but the flaws in Hefner's mansion of cards have come into fine focus. Re-invent, re-invent, re-invent.
yes and to add to that, at that time, correct me if I'm wrong but the whole idea that Paul Snider was a 'pimp' was such a turn-off to Hefner & the staff ; Paul's attitude not just possessive-ness but his whole mental disposition of he was 'the next Hugh Hefner' was such a put off and offensive to Hef & the whole Playboy mansion. No?
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
You're right Tiffany. I don't see how anyone can blame Playboy. There's only one person responsible for killing her and it was Paul Snider. Hugh Hefner wasn't promoting demeaning women or debauchery. He was promoting freedom and the idea that sex is fun; not evil. And it wasn't the lifestyle that has hurt Playboy, it's the internet and tons of free real porn at our finger tips that have hurt Playboy.
While I agree with you but as far as doing Playboy would it had hurt her employment opportunities had Dorothy lived I don't think it would either but then again well it depends. Had Dorothy wanted to work say in a factory, supermarket, restaurant..those kind of places now who would really care if she had done Playboy ?? Few if any. Now on the other hand had Dorothy wanted to be a school teacher, work in a church, a job involving politics or depending on the market even a television news anchor/reporter being in Playboy could hurt her chances there as those places usually have a "morals clause" in their employment contracts.
thank you! You hit it on the head 100%. Playboy whether or not Dorothy WANTED to do it or not, doesn't matter because it is irrelevent ; only 1 person killed her. It was also a time of sexual revolution too. I was curious how after her death maybe politics of that atmosphere changed.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
I was just a kid when it happened so I don't know how it effected society firsthand. I believe if anything it brought possessiveness into the public conversation.

I Would Love To have A Copy of Dorothy's E True Hollywood Story... I Have Been Trying To Find It For Years!!! If There Is A Way You Can Get Me A Copy... I Would Gladly Pay You For It. Thanks So Much.
Is it just me, or did Paul Snider look like a cross between Nicholas Cage and Andy Kaufman?
Did anyone hear/read about the neighbor that was Dorothy's neighbor at Clarkson Road? She was a little younger- maybe a lot younger- and this kid's parents did not like her hanging out with Dorothy I think because maybe they knew she did PB. Dorothy & her went rollar skating, went for ice cream... did a lot! I think they were close too because Louise was about the same age. Anyway this neighbor was present the day Dorothy was killed & she heard about it was that she was at piano lessons & while she was in her lesson a boy, a friend of hers came running in & shouted it. After she was told she ran home & took down everything she had of Dorothy's- posters, signed pictures, calendars..... anything. I think this girl even witnessed the police and ER at the house while everything was being brought out.
Anyway I think the story is on www.dorothystratten.com if you are interested but bring tissues. I think the name is Elisa Cash

I can name one without googling. Jeana Keough, she was the November 1980 playmate. She was on the Real Housewives of Orange County for a couple of years, she is also a successful real estate agent. She has done good outside of Playboy, I would say she's one of the most well known of the 80's playmates.

Nah, Hef just kept on doing what he always did (save for his marriage of several years). Bob Zmuda who got Jim Carrey the roll of Andy Kaufman tells a story that Carey was to go to Hef's lair made up as Tony Clifton and that the joke would be on everyone but Hef, but at the last minute Carey found out that the secret was out and refused to go, but suggested to Zmuda that he get made up as Tony and let Hef think that it was himself instead. So Zmuda shows up at the party with everyone by now thinking that Mr Famous, Jim Carrey, is in the house. According to Zmuda he was dragged off into the bathroom by one of Hef's girls and let us say gave her a treatment for dry skin. Okay, so a few hours later Carrey himself shows up to expose the gag, but Hef thinking that some impostor has one-upped Carrey has his goons throw Zmuda down on the floor, looks like he might get another stroke, clenches his fists and almost acts on impulse before coming to his senses. Yeah, Hef is reformed all right.

"Hef's attempts to seduce and pressure Dorothy for sex". That line is a laugh. Fucking Hef and doing it well has always been a prerequisite for playmate of the year.
I do not understand the extended grieving and emotion over Dorothy Stratten. Her premature death was cold, calculated, and cruel. Most murders are.
Her death was like sexy and stuff. That's about it I guess.
Poo Bah, I think when someone is senselessly murdered there tends to be grieving and emotion that just doesn't dissipate over time.
To understand the living, you got to commune with the dead.

I hear ya. I think a lot of it has to do with the feminists trying to turn her into an icon. The story resonates with every woman that's had a bad bf. She certainly didn't deserve to die but I've always felt she was far less innocent than portrayed in Star 80 and the national narrative. She basically used this guy to get where she wanted and once she was there dumped him like a used tampon. And she got where she wanted by using her vagina. Which helped push along his craziness. Again not worth the death penalty, but I just hate it when people make others out to be saints when they die.
I took a photo of the homes next to Dorothy Stratten to show her house was a normal middle-class, NOT a mansion, not a high-class, expensive house in a regular normal neighborhood. Modest.

Dorothy's next door neighbor December/Jan 2016...
what makes me angry is according to Chip Clark, there was a time where Chip, his GF, Dorothy & Paul were talking & pretty much said what would happen if you leave Paul and Dorothy said he would kill her, Paul confirmed that. I don't know what happened after that but that right there should have been a big sign at least to Chip that this guy is a douche. A dangerous man that should be watched even in jest.....
