Date to Baseball Game, Ends in Dismemberment

    http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-...S_seattle-news

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...1&noRedirect=1

"Prosecutors have filed a first-degree murder charge against the man arrested in connection with the slaying and dismemberment of Renton mother Ingrid Lyne.

John Robert Charlton, 37, has been held in lieu of $2 million bail following his arrest Monday, three days after Lyne disappeared after a date and two days after her head and other body parts were found in a Central District recycling bin."

They met online and had dated about a month.

It appears his defense will be that he was drunk and can't remember.

I read about this horrifying murder and not really buying his excuse of "being drunk".
Law enforcement is also looking at him for other similar crimes in that area. What a Monster.

This is so awful. They had reportedly been dating for 6 weeks.

I just wonder if she told him she wanted to end the relationship or maybe she was pregnant and gave him the news, He didn't want to accept it and this was the final result...Anyway this guy is obviously a very disturbed "person" ..psycho.

This is an example of the ugly side of meeting someone online.

Very horrifying story yet I still am curious about what else they will find out as they continue investigating.

Exactly. It's a risk with anyone, even somebody you "know," but to date someone cold offline? Uh, no.

While I cannot laugh about this crime, I had to chuckle about he whole topic of online dating and meeting. My wife and I met online, in a Yahoo! Group for penpals. She lived in California, I in Texas. A year and a bit later, she came to Texas. We've been married for almost 11 years.

I HOPE there are other examples of happy endings, because this whole anonymity thing of the web is frightening. It was for me, too, until I met my wife in person.

I know that, but she still didn't know him, obviously.

Yes, it happens, but it's a throw of the dice and I don't gamble.

You can be married to someone for 20 years and be harmed by them.

Of course you need to exercise caution when dating but I don't think meeting someone online is any more dangerous than meeting someone at a bar or party.
