Wasn't Great White the band that helped cause the Station tavern fire on Rhode Island? Something like 100 died - some really disturbing video of the people jammed in the doorway burning to death was floating around at the time.

What the hell is Uriah Heep doing in there?

Thats the one that sticks out the most to me.

They were all fanciful and wizards and the like...

LoL, I know UH's music, I just don't know why they'd be on that list.
Specially with the other bands listed.

That list has some peculiar choices. UH? Robin Trower? Spinal Tap? They shoulnt be on there. Tool should be in the top 10. Aerosmith isnt metal to me either. Throw them in the glam list.

Wheres the Scorpions? Not a huge fan but they were huge in the 80s. Better than most on the list.

Excellent point Jefe - I too was wondering wht the hell spinal tap was doing on that list - there are serious bands here, Sounds like it was put together by someone with toongue-in-cheek to me

Y&T were great. I have a few of their CDs. I remember hearing their songs on the radio in the early 80's all the time in California (SF Bay Area). They were from there.

I have to say both lists must have been created to cause a stir. I agree with you guys regarding Spinal Tap and Aerosmith. A fake band and a band that I cannot recall one "heavy metal" song ever.

Hmm, I don't agree with that either... I like a LOT of those bands. I think Def Leppard should be on the best list... I agree with Ich about Scorpions and Voivod being on the list as well.

I'm kind of having issues w/ AIC being on there, too. They aren't 'metal' to me. (Neither is Aerosmith.)

If AIC is there then Soungarden and Jane's Addiction should be there as well!

Damm, I like WASP and Whitesnake. Since heavy Metal is a very loose term that really only lasted from maybe 1981 until around 1989 This list means more or less nothing. Id hardly consider Deep Purple, RUSH, Aerosmith or Robin Trower heavy Metal though. These lists are made by people paid to like the music, not people that actually like the music. The days of the hair are over people ! Geeze

WASP ruled back in the day! I had everything from them glossy photos screenprinted wall tapestries the bandsaw shaped picture disc of Animal (IFuck Like A Beast) everything. I did a ten page essay in Spanish on the history of WASP and Balckie Lawless for Year 2 Spanish in middle school. It was indecipherable even to my Spanish teacher but the spirit and intent was undeniable so I got a passing grade.

Zeppelin and Hendrix are the best on that list I.M.O. although I don't think that they were heavy metal at all. They were hard rock and innovaters of their style but they wern't heavy metal.
