I liked his early movies (except for Cable Guy), but now, he's a little too out there for me.
What do the rest of you think?

What exactly do you mean by a little too out there?? I've always thought that... LOL
I loved him covered with tattoos...
Mmmm. Soooo... HOT.
I saw the number 23, he was very good in it. No goofy.

I liked him when he was first "Discovered" in The Duck Factory. After that, he was too annoying to still be likable. The same is true for Robin Williams for me.
Any day above ground is a good day.
I used to like Jim Carey back in the day when he first started making a name for himself .. but then he just got plain annoying! And an Ex-BF of mine looks like he could be his twin! and could do a spot-on impression of Fire Marshall Bill from In Living Color .. so that kind of turned me off of him as well seeing as how everytime I see JC I think of my EX .. LOL but I do have to say I liked him in The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine ... the movie was the story of me and my EX basically .. i wished I could have my memories erased!! LOL
Personally I liked the Cable Guy and the Truman Show.
Also Me Myself And Irene.
I liked Eternal Sunshine OF the Spotless Mind, and The Truman show was good to.

I got so hopeful seeing a thread with this dork's name on it. Still breathing eh? Bummer.
Stay in Drugs. Eat your School. Don't do Vegetables.
I like a lot of his stuff, going back to the "In Living Color" days.
I liked Fire Marshall Bill; but I have a really twisted sense of humor that way.
Some would say that I'm just really twisted.
I loved Cable Guy; because it was so dark and unsettling on several levels.
I saw it with a friend; who ten minutes into it leaned over and said; "God! I'm not sure I can watch this!"
He seems like he would be a truly exhausting person to be around. Seems like he's either at the highest high or the lowest low.
I am a sick puppy....woof woof!!!

I like him! Especially in "Eternal Sunshine" Some of his stuff ("Ace Ventura 2") is not so great but he seems like he is having fun. He is handsome too.
When I saw him wearing an elephant costume, whoring for "Horton Hears A Who" on "American Idol". all I could think was 'he used to have a career as an actor'.
Liar Liar, Truman Show, The Majestic and Bruce Almighty are movies I've enjoyed him in. I like him sometimes either serious or funny.
I can't stand him. He's just way too...much.
Yeah that one was pretty good. We saw the ending coming from miles away though. What's new Hollywood though, eh?
My husband's more "out there" than Jim Carrey to some folks, LOL. Good thing for me, I think they're both funny.
I'm one of the few who loved him in The Cable Guy. The further out he goes, the more I like him.
The Truman Show was ok, but to me was a very generic sort of film. If Jim Carrey weren't in it, I don't think I'd have bothered with it unless it had someone else I liked in the lead role.
Luckily mine is pretty even. He just blurts out the weirdest shit sometimes and has no shame when it comes to doing impressions or other Carrey-like weirdness.
All that super highs and lows business that I've read about Carrey would be too much to deal with on a personal level. As long as he stays up on the screen, that works, LOL. No Purple Rose of Cairo'ing please.
.
I love him and would rather like to be stuck in an elevator with him!
Plus he's Canadian which is never a bad thing...I bloody love Canadians!

I like Jim Carrey I think he's a pretty good actor. Jenny Mccarthy swears that he has done wonders with and for her son who has aspergers (a form of autism) He has been married twice and has 1 daughter (can you imagine her complex?) I loved him in the in living color days. what surprises me is he's a vegan that loves death metal stuff (oh well go figure) Just thought I'd share my input.. what doesn't surprise me is that he loves the cartoons spongebob and johnny bravo...(even I like Johnny)
YES! He was hilarious in that.
Here he is as Vanilla Ice

I like Jim Carrey..I think he has a lot of talent..But I do agree sometimes he does go over the top..into Annoying Territory..He must be tiring to live with and nearly impossible to interview! LOL..but maybe he's like Pavlov's dogs he see's the light of the camera and he's on? make any sense?
True, true. We age like a fine red wine. We get better with age.
I still liked the Vanilla Ice one. Vera does make me laugh.
I remember a skit they did when they sang with the skeleton Dance with the dead! Dance with the Dead!
I still sing it to one of my friends, we used to do that all the time many years ago. ahh memories.
Find him irritating and not good looking enough!
That said I shouldnt be on this site if I dont like him ( a new rule!)
Is he a Scientologist?
As a person who likes comedy and likes to laugh I find him annoying at times. Like he doesn't turn off sometimes. Life is serious. Theres a time to turn on and turn off.
I almost laid an egg when his shoe went flying off in the Vanilla Ice video.
Has anyone ever seen his performance in "Doing Time On Maple Drive?" It's pretty good--he does a serious portrayal of a young alcoholic. The movie is kind of disturbing for various reasons, but you can sometimes catch it on the Lifetime channel. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104118/
Moreso than most people realize...
I'm a Kaufman fanatic...So I bought a copy of the screenplay for Man on the Moon that they made into a book. There is a section that talks about Jim Carrey's performance.
Apparently, during filming, Jim refused to answer to his own name, only answering to "Andy". And Lynne Marguiles, Andy's girlfriend at at the time of his death, said that Jim even displayed physical characteristics that Andy did. Small things that no one would really know about unless they really knew him as she did such as hand gestures and the like.
I'll always respect Jim for his portrayal of Andy...No one could have done it better in my opinion, other than Andy himself of course.
I look for one thing, I find six things I wasn't looking for. Here's one:
Jim Carrey became a grandfather on 2/27: http://twitpic.com/15liwi
.
He has become a little strange for me but I still like him. Loved his early work. I cannot listen to "Welcome to the Jungle" without thinking about his as Johnny Squares in "The Dead Pool". That whole lipsynching thing just killed me.
but Jim Carrey dead?
Again, I don't know if I trust the source, but who knows.
