Starbucks bans porn; YouPorn bans Starbucks

Kind of reminds me of the Trump trade war with the rest of the world:

Starbucks has announced that they do not want their customers using their free WiFi to view porn, consequently; they will soon unveil a solution that prevents accessing porn sites from within their establishments.

In a "You're Not The Boss Of Me!" response, porn industry giant YouPorn has banned all Starbucks products from their properties.

OK now, I have to ask:

Who the hell sits in a public, family-friendly place like Starbucks surfing porn sites?
    That really happens?

Do they watch porn videos with the sound on?
    Maybe they wear ear buds?

Just my opinion, but surfing porn should be confined to places like Waffle House, the public library and internet cafes just as good behavior dictates.
And maybe the dentist's office; that's kind of private.
And the DMV or the tax collector's office while waiting to get licenses renewed, obviously.

On a positive note - this is the first time in a long time that I've seen a real WTF! news headline that did not involve The President of the United States.
On second thought, that's really a bit concerning.
Somebody should probably go check on the guy and make sure he's OK.

And what's with the name "YouPorn"?
Has YouTube not noticed and gone after them?

Heck, Auto Shack had to change their name to Auto Zone after Radio Shack got miffed; yet YouTube says nothing?

    I don't get it.

I work in a public library, and if you are caught viewing porn they kick you out and you are banned for 2 weeks. But it's okay to bring in your drugs and do them in the washrooms and discard your needles where ever. Porn is the least of my worries, it's the rampant drug use and threat to public safety that concerns me. Not much we can do about it, unless we put up a sign saying PLEASE DO YOUR DRUGS BEFORE ENTERING THE LIBRARY. Would anybody follow that ? I doubt it ! LOL

I guess the days of watching porn from the privacy of your own home are over. Hubs and I are no prudes, we will occasionally partake in a steamy flick. But neither of us would dream of watching it anywhere outside the bedroom.

    Damn.
Book worms have really changed since I hung out at the library - to read.

Can you spot the dopers when they come in?
    Dressed a certain way?
Head straight for a particular area\ type of books?

    I'd have never guessed.

Yeah, you can always tell, we try to get security after them as quickly as possible, even so we have at least 2 OD's a week from whatever shit they are using. Back to the topic of porn, now that Tumblr is banning it, we will lose a lot of our usual suspects !

    Wow.
I'm just stunned by both scenarios - surfing porn and using drugs in public places like coffee shops and libraries.
    Never crossed my mind...

I too, am surprised at the revelations of this thread. I would think all public places would have already had a porn ban in place. The junkies in the Library thingy, I just don't know what to say.

    Hi Jim,

We have an old thread around here somewhere about XTube, which is another porn site. YouTube never went after them either. Go figure.

    Thanks for that.
It seems odd that they wouldn't aggressively defend their brand from too-similar sounding\looking names.

Especially so since those other sites are essentially doing the same thing - serving videos.
If YouPorn was an online retailer of erotic novels and sex toys, OK - similar name but totally different industry.

It could also be YouTube's parent company, Google, hasn't been in the position to sue anyone for awhile now.
