13 is a pretty good run for a groundhog, let alone an albino groundhog.

Dang - then 13 is an exceptionally good run for an albino groundhog.

You know, with such a short life span; it's a damned shame that they have to spend so much of it in captivity prognosticating the weather.
I think we should call upon the government to provide massive funding to the scientific community so that they can pull together all of the best and brightest minds - and give those guys a blank check - so that they can come up with some alternative method of predicting the weather that will be at least somewhat as accurate as what we got from the aged groundhog.

Maybe do some studies of the way pigeons fly before a cold snap or something like that.
Or maybe paint some popsicle sticks black on one side, red on the other and toss them to the ground; see which colors come up the most and what the weather does in the weeks afterwards; and then use that going forward, you know; science.

Yeah - something that involves studies and data-sets and scientific stuff like that; and then only use technologically savvy groundhogs to verify the conclusions.
