And that's why, kids, you should quit smoking.

My profile picture and avatar are pictures of the lovely Agnetha Fältskog from ABBA, not me. I am a man, and an admirer of her. Friend proposers take note!

Funny thing is I was always told that but the majority of my family are smokers and it is the ones who gave up that died early from heart attacks/cancer etc and such (Surprisingly none were lung, throat etc) while the one who absolutely refused have lived to their late 80s/90s. Not that I'm saying you should smoke or that you shouldn't but there you go.

As for Joe, it's a shame at any time but so near Xmas makes it feel like someone is just putting the boot it.

I read that on his Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour back the 70's, he got ripped off by his manager and never got a cent out of it.

His last update on his website is from August. No mention of his death, and he released a new album on the 6th of November called 'Fire it up'.

The ungainliest looking rock star. R.I.P.

I remember John Belushi singing a Joe Cocker song on SNL way back in the 70's.

    RIP.

I saw him in concert here in New Orleans in the early 90's, fabulous show! I have a number of his c.d.'s and a pin somewhere from back in the Mad Dogs and Englishmen days that says "Cocker Power" . R.I.P.

Damn...the great ones are slowly leaving us. Here is a little fun. Enjoy.

To my Father. Even though you have crossed the plane, you will always be with me.
You were not just my Father, but my hero. My life has been a poor attempt to be like you
You taught me music, vocals, and how to fight. I can only hope I am half the man you are
When I close my eyes I can see you. And finally, Thank you Dad. for everything.

True I saw that too. I think the SNL people were jerks
making fun of Joe Cocker at the time.

RIP, both John Belushi and Joe Cocker.

Agree with you.....whatever he was singing, he gave it his all. He left everything on stage.

Just saw on Facebook that Joe Cocker has died of lung cancer. Anyone else know anything about it?

Joe Cocker passed away in December 2014.

Here is the original thread, which did not start as an obituary. It began in 2008 and ended as one, which threw me off at first.

With all the recent entertainers' deaths, some celebrity obits have been recycling on Facebook lately (apparently some folk have only recently become aware that Jean Stapleton died-- in 2013!)

So here's a good obituary for Mr. Cocker ("with a little help from my friends", the GUARDIAN):

Thanks Linnie, guess I'm a little slow to the rodeo. I thought it was more recent.

Actually, that thread was started in 2008 and when Cocker died in 2014 his death was announced on it and for some reason the thread was never closed and no one thought to start a death thread.
