Maybe it was supposed to be a workout video especially for death hags? In any case, I guess he's not (ehm make that "was not") Superman.

The local paper is saying that he was filming a commercial for a protein shake. Seriously. Although it does sound like a death hag punchline.

That just sounds too weird. Why be on the tracks with a train so close? Why film a workout video on the tracks? He stumbled. Why didn't the friends get him off of the tracks? Needs to be more news here. Shame that the man spent so much time helping people get fit then gets run over by a train.

    Yeah it does, lol.

He was also an actor on some soap opera. I don't watch soaps, so I didn't recognize the name of the one in the article I posted. Did anyone here watch it?

OK - it all makes sense now - protein shakes, train tracks; got it.

I bet he won't try that crap again.

They were maybe filming a commercial; there were cameras around; there has to be a vid of this. I'm off to look for it.

OK, I'll say the obvious. Parts of what was left over probably looked like a protein shake.

I was thinking more along the lines of Jethro Tull, "Locomotive Breath"

I say God, he stole the handle
And the train it won't stop going, no way to slow down.

But the Spirit moves in mysterious ways.

This explanation seems to make a lot of sense- if he indeed was looking at footage on his camera and also wearing ear buds, he definitely would have been focused on one specific thing and not his overall surroundings. Some ear buds virtually block out all outside noise or sounds, and I can believe the possibility of him not even hearing the the train's horn, especially since witnesses say that he didn't react to it at all. What a shame... a senseless death.

I was gone all weekend and came home this afternoon to find this out. GREG PLITT was sort of the Golden Boy of this area; well up until MICHAEL PHELPS anyway. Very handsome guy, though it appears that he got kind of nutty from roids or some 'supplement'.

Videos and pictures from the video shoot and after he was hit by a train. Nothing gory, just workout videos on and around the train tracks and a body covered up with a yellow tarp shown from a distance. The news report says that he may not have heard the train because of a busy freeway overpass nearby. One of the videos shows him with a Metrolink train in the background going by, so it wasn't like he didn't know the tracks weren't live. And for those of us who live near Metrolink train tracks here in the greater Los Angeles area, it's common knowledge that they go by every 20 minutes to half-hour on business days, especially in the early morning hours (5:00 to 10:00 a.m.) and late afternoon/evening hours (3:00 to 8:00 p.m.) Monday through Friday. The ad was for Met-RX products.

Now they are saying that he was going for an action shot and tripped. I doubt this is the action shot he was hoping for. Do steroids make a person stupid?

A friend of mine was one of his teachers when he went to Gilman.
PLITT was their all-star everything went he attended there in the 90s.
PLITT was well liked, a bit of an overachiever and had a great future ahead of him.

I saw him a couple of times, never spoke with him. He was a very good looking guy; girls
    were understandably smitten with him

I don't know if that was his 'spiel' or if was roids etc but he appeared scary intense in
    many of those inspirational videos.

No, they actually don't make a person stupid. They also don't grow muscles. They simply make the body recover faster so that the person can work out more, more often.

I gotta agree. I don't mind some muscles but that look has never done it for me.

According to TMZ, the reason he was on the tracks was because he was an adrenaline junkie and was chasing a high when he got hit trying to outrun the train.

Unsurprisingly COD is multiple blunt force trauma.

Now the latest is that he was trying to outrun a train. He did not trip, but the train simply overtook him. They said that there were energy drink cans everywhere and he was probably on caffeine overload.

What a fucking idiot. He had a nice face but that over muscled thing does nothing for me either.

I am paranoid as hell when I am around the light rail tracks. Even if I just got off a train and know it's gone and another won't come for 10 minutes I look both ways twice when I cross the tracks.
I don't know what the story was here but we had a woman killed by the Green Line LRT here. They think it was because she had earbuds in and just wasn't paying attention. WTF?!? Train Tracks people. Trains do come along on them once in a while.

I say this even as someone who had relatives killed by a train in the 60's. My mom's aunt and 2 of her cousins were killed in their car on the train tracks leaving her uncle to raise the other 4 kids. I don't know what the situation was but things are even worse now a days when almost everyone is in their own little world looking at their phone, texting, listening to music or whatever.

He may have been gorgeous, but now he is worm food, (non-) living proof of the axiom that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Apparently he got "faster than a speeding bullet" confused with "more powerful than a locomotive."

That may seem harsh, but people who do not want to be ridiculed should refrain from doing ridiculous things.

What a stupid freaking way to lose your life.

"Hold my energy drink and watch this...", he should have been a Southern red neck beer drinker. There had to have been an epic "Oh shit!" moment.

This seems a bit harsh too, but I don't think the train killed him, his oversized ego did. I guess he never took a physics class and learned about velocity or ever had one of those word problems about a train leaving Chicago at 6:00 a.m. going 40 MPH. Then again, it may not have been his fault because West Point did lose their accreditation for a while.

But who in their right mind thinks of themselves as Superman? Poor guy, he should have tried leaping a tall building in a single bound first. Then knowing he was not Superman, he may not have tried the train stunt. What a waste.

Buzzzt . . . thank you for playing! It's "Faster than a SPEEDING BULLET! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound"

OK, granted, most speeding bullets are faster than most locomotives - but maybe Superman was into racing muzzle-loaders.

Personally, I would have tried the leaping buildings thing first - less chance of injury.
