A Lady in OKC has an Owl Mommy with eggs about to hatch on her porch. In a old planter. Not as exciting but I find owls fascinating.

We are having severe storms, unusual this time of year. Cam is down of course, hope they are OK up there.
This photo was taken in Maine over the weekend. What a gorgeous picture.

Pittsburgh mama eagle fights off raccoon trying to steal eggs.
I like that Momma better than most of the ones that appear on threads here, and by that I mean subject of threads not posters of course.

Woo hoo!! Our Maine Eagles laid an egg on March 16, another on March 19 and they are expecting 1 or 2 more eggs!! Yay!
This nest has been a tough one to watch. In 2006 or 2007 they had laid eggs and a Noreaster hit and the eggs were lost (Momma flew off and Papa stayed on the nest as long as he could but he had to leave to find food).
Then in 2012 they had a successful hatch but one eaglet wasn't strong enough to fight for food (the other eaglet used to beat the crap out of the other one) and it fell out of the nest during a storm). Last summer they had another successful hatch, but again, one fell out of the nest. Lets hope this summer will be a good summer and all 3 or 4 will successfully fledge.

Second egg hatched at 7:00 AM today. One more to go!
Eagles do not mess around with intruders. Humans included. Hence why many nesting areas are fenced in and off limits to people within quite a distance.

Hello, world!
The third egg just hatched a little while ago!
Apparently, at some point, the camera broke. When it was fixed, the eagles had flown away. E4, the eaglet on the cam that survived, was last seen on May 8th. It's assumed that he's flown high and is enjoying a wonderful life.
Well, I will not be watching the Maine Eagle cam anymore. For the 3rd year in row, something horrid happened to one of the chicks. Same thing as previous years, the parents suddenly stopped feeding the chicks (for a couple of days) and one chick killed the other. These are just really bad parents. I could understand if it had only happened once, maybe twice, but for 3 years in row the parents just take off and leave the chicks alone for days at a time with no food. There are so many other nests (Eagle, Osprey, Hummers) where the parents are attentive and keep an eye on the chicks, but the Maine Eagles are just jerks LOL. I guess, just like humans, sometimes animals can be jerks too.

The Pittsburgh Eagle Cam ends August 19. Hopefully there will be another next year.
Purr, why are you afraid there will not be a next year with the Pittsburgh Eagle Cam?

I see what you meant, Purr. I know how you feel. There is a second camera in Maine (I think I mentioned up thread) where the couple have been together for 3 years but the female eagle is older and the male is still a juvenile (although his head is white). Every year I keep hoping something will come from the nest. They certainly spending enough time maintaining the nest, but every year there are no eggs. Every year I keep hoping and every year the nest is empty.

I really hope he heals, and goes home to H.
They were saying in the chat that Harriet has been calling and calling for him. I'm glad I missed that, no thanks.
Thousands are flocking to Pittsburgh's Bald Eagle Camera, where experts say the egg could hatch any time.

We had a broken egg at the Pittsburgh Eagle nest this morning. Still trying to confirm if this is a hatch. Cracks in the egg started around 3 AM but at 5:23 AM the egg is in half. The experts at Audubon are looking closely.

Harriet is cheating???
They rehabbed Ozzie and let him go, but he didn't go back to the nest.
There has been a young eagle trying to hone in on her. I hope they sort this out, it's a soap opera

That bitch! I hope Ozzie makes it home and clips her wings.
Actually, I do too. How quickly they forget.
