Must have been some kind of pervert.

A normal Japanese guy would have been suffocated under a pile of slightly used and unwashed women's panties that he purchased from a vending machine on the street corner.

It would be "Death By Denny's" if you went by the standards of the local franchises. The key to pancakes is to get as much butter and real syrup as you can on them and gulp them like drinkable yogurt.

How is this a Darwin award entry, he went in for a procedure, and died, not by fault of his own.

And that's why I would never try to take a selfie with any animal bigger or heavier than a King Cobra.
I hope he got his pic - I'd like to see it.

Not sure if this is where the story belongs. I am still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that Aaron Joel Mitchell ran into the flames of the Burning Man 's signature man figure.

That's just too literal for me to fully reconcile.
He runs into the burning man at Burning Man and becomes a burning man.

I think that's less a Darwin moment and more like a Hume meets Hawking meets Rod Serling moment.
I'd think it a sort of brilliance had the negative consequences been more fleeting.

Hope the vid shows up on live leak or something similar. You gotta wonder when that "oh crap" moment kicks in. Would he have time for his whole life to flash before his eyes or just enough time for a Wiki stub?

I have seen vids of them taking a pretty good hit. One vid was of a guy that dropped his while skydiving. Most of the "thrill seekers" I see using a Go Pro use a Helmet mount. Haven't heard what body part hit first. I imagine at that kind of velocity it wouldn't matter. Then, throw in the tumble down the side of the mountain. Maybe we will at least hear if the cam made it.

    Brilliant mofo that one.

Everybody knows that the pin is the only valuable part of a hand grenade.
Most people who manage to extract one just keep the pin and throw the rest away.

The grenade, I feel like he did commit suicide, why would he text his friend after his friend asks if he is okay and he says "'Depends on what OK is in your understanding?' for me this statement says he wasn't okay, any other person would be like yeah I am okay, and just because he sent the picture to other friends doesn't mean he wasn't thinking of killing himself, maybe he was sending to everyone he knew as a way to say goodbye or to let them know what he was planning. Or I could be overthinking this but being the former medical examiner assistant in me, this feels like a suicide.

Well, that would take some of the Darwin out of it I suppose.
NO AWARD FOR YOU, GRENADE BOY!

    Notification:
My life has just been unexpectedly changed by this Darwin Awards thread.
While writing this reply I started wondering if there was like an opposite something or another to a Darwin Award - I was seeking a way to classify Grenade Boy if he wasn't really eligible for a Darwin Award.

That search took me to a rather odd forum; I'm gonna be spending a lot of time there for a while - it seems to be full of stuff like this:

They need a Deathhag preset for You Tube. Of course I want to proceed. WTH do think I'm trying to view for? I wonder if this guy had just got over being sick or something like that. His upper Body Strength was lacking this time. Only two pull ups and then the struggle. From the way he is dressed, maybe a bit of frozen precip on the building? Reckon it doesn't really matter now.

One vid had him labeled as a "Chinese Superman" for some inexplicable reason:

    Look up in the sky!
    It's a bird; it's a plane!
    No, it's...
    STUPIDMAN!
Able to fall off of tall buildings in a single act of bad judgement.

The first vid I watched was longer. He spent a couple of minutes wiping down the edge with a towel. He started over the side but with one leg still hooked up over the edge. He immediately pulled himself back up and went back to wiping things down with the towel. Maybe he should have used a better towel. Maybe he should have stuck to doing flips and spins at the local skate park.

Yeah - they should have Googled it first.
Otherwise, how would you even know it could be a bad idea?

    Brilliance.
I just have to wonder - I can't help but wonder - if at any moment during that encounter the guy had a moment when he thought maybe it wasn't such a good idea to go for the selfie?

There again, the bear was injured and our budding genius took it's mind off of it's discomfort for a few moments.
That bear maybe went from thinking, "Sucks to be me"; to having just the best kind of day.

Reminds me of the guy who tried to kiss his "pet" water moccasin and the guy who jumped a zoo enclosure so that he could run up and hug a panda bear.

That's a sloth bear, one of the most dangerous bruins in the world in that they actually hunt humans. I watched some nature show years ago about this team of whatchamacallets who took a portable cage to sleep in every night because the sloth bear WILL attack. No question. This guy deserves two Darwin Awards.

    Gee.
In light of that information, I'd kind of have to think that the guy was either woefully uninformed; or maybe even, IDK; a little stupid.
But I think that the nature of the Award is such that by qualifying once, you forgo an opportunity at a second shot; no matter how deserving of two you might have been.

That guy should have watched more nature shows on television.
