Maybe, but he had to follow Mickey Rooney!

As talented as Orson Welles was, I think Capone would have been a stretch. Not through lack of ability as an actor, we know he had that in spades, but in respect to authenticity and I suppose his balooning weight. Capone was stocky and overweight for his size, but Welles was borderline obese.

Agreed, Neil. Could we say that Welles was not a good fit to play Capone?

Sorry, just had to say it.

I think it's now just an dumb urban legend that
people were frightened by his War of the Worlds
    radio broadcast.

Even back then people were too smart to fall
    for it.

Oh yes the "Runty Romeo" I remember him when
he was in Toronto in the 1980s doing the play
    -Sugar Babies-. with Ann Miller.
I met him then to this day still think Mickey Rooney
    is a crazy person.

The title is "Too Much Johnson."

Sounds like a softcore Cinemax "After Dark" flick.

Kinda sad to see Welles show up to a job and be all shitfaced.

I loved the Welles character in "Ed Wood".

Well, if you go to that clip on Youtube, and look at the comments section, a person claiming to be one of the producers on that commercial posted in outrage that Orson was on medication for one of his conditions, everyone on the set was aware of it, and that it was making him disoriented. She adamantly denied that he was drunk.
