But what amazed me is how entertaining he was - SO funny, he had us laughing through the whole show. He was my favorite Monkee, so it was like a dream to see him. And for some reason, his wife was not part of that show - was it maybe before she was touring with him? Glad she didn't take up any of that show. Pure Davy was what we wanted. RIP Davy. You gave a lot of pleasure to so many people.
Was that performance at Mohegan Sun in 2010? I saw a picture where his wife (JP) was part of the show, maybe shw wasn't touring with him then. I'm glad you saw him without her It has been a year since his passing and with the convention in a NJ hotel coming soon, it's especially sad.

More on the Dr. Phil episode

Being married to much younger woman was what he struggled with working on their relationship for. Bah HumBug!! He seemed to prefer much younger women in the last twenty years of his life. He only dated a much older woman once in the late 1970's. he thought younger women wouldn't remember much of his Monkees fame much like JP. Quote from Dylan Thomas: Though lovers be lost, Shall not and death shall have no dominion.

Someone mentioned on the That's Why You're My Ex Forum that in FL Davy's widow would be entitled to 1/3 of the estate once the other bills are settled. I wonder how this will work with royalties from his merchandise?

His daughters started the Davy Jones Equine Fund for the care of his horses and most of the herd have been re-located to California near his 2 oldest girls. Many fans have donated to the cause, but caring for 14 horses is not cheap so I wonder how long the fans will be able to sustain the endeavor. I wish all the best for them.
I like that "ex" site. It's become all about DJ.
No one forced JP to attend the British memorial anyway so she shouldn't be reimbursed. Different states have different laws for what she can get. If she does get a piece of the royalties than many fans won't buy anything else which is most likely why his daughters wanted to keep the details secret.
Yes, the DJMF is separate and the money goes to care for the horses. It's a great charity and hope the donations don't fall off too much with time.

It has been nearly two years since his passing. He would have been 68 years old last December. We still wonder if the estate has been fully settled and how much did his widow get. No news for a long time. A certain TV station has their reruns now Sunday mornings at 12 pm but sometimes they are all over the place. RIP Davy after 2 years also M.R.

A friend of mine in high school knew Davy Jones, or at least kept up a correspondence with him. Something along that line. I graduated in 1991 so that's how long that's been.

The opening to the 1971 Sandy Duncan movie "Star Spangled Girl" with Davy Jones singing "Girl". Betcha many of you had thought the song was only heard on The Brady Bunch.

He appeared at the University of Maine as a solo act, and later wandered down to a beer pub in the small town of Orono. He was not reviewed well by the bar waitresses, who said he was rude and vulgar.

Not specifically about Davy; but a rather long and sometimes interesting doco about the Monkees.

Mickey recounts that they were actors hired to portray a fictional band; they were thought of by much of the public as a real band with a TV show even though they were not. Later; they did start performing as a real band.

"It was like Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock for you youngsters) becoming a real Vulcan"; he more or less said.

I never missed the show when it was running - the silly antics appealed to my (still) juvenile sense of humor (Check out Kung Pow! Enter The Fist - I giggled or laughed out loud like the 12 year old sitting a few seats away); although my sense of humor has a deeper appreciation of satire and irony.

The story recounted above about Davy going to see the injured fan is either touching or off setting; depending upon his motives; I choose to believe that his motives were true and not self serving; just IMO.

In the late 80's I was in the laundry room of the apartment complex where I lived (washing clothes; obviously); hoping to be done in time for Miami Vice; when a young man came in to do the same. We struck up a conversation that eventually turned to music and he asked me about the best bands ever. The Beatles; The Stones; Led Zepplin; Skynard; CCR; Curtis Mayfield; Hendrix Experience, I said.

"No, man; the best band touring is The Monkees"; he said.

I was stunned and somewhat shocked that actors hired to portray a band had actually become one.

Leonard Nimoy has become a real Vulcan.

I mean, if she's done all the other things we've read about, I certainly would not put that past her. Poor Davy. He got caught up in web of evil poontang. I just KNOW she knew what she was doing, manipulating him and their "marriage" for her "career". It seems like I read somewhere (maybe here) that an ex-employee said "If Davy turns up dead, I guarantee you that wife of his did it".

I watched that clip of Dr. Phil. I could hardly stand to watch it. It was pathetic. There was no love there. He just didn't want to be alone (I read that somewhere, too, prolly here). Love and sex are two different ballgames. I don't care how much sex you have....that doesn't mean it's love. She is an evil Queen Bitch and jumped his shit for just all kinds of little things, like not putting his spoon in the sink after he was through using it. Just stupid shit. And he just hung around and took it. He couldn't give up her love cave. Like someone else said, why her? He could have had most any woman he chose. I guess it's b/c she was young, beautiful, fiery and Latina (cuban-american, actually). She's pretty but she's not all that. And her atrocious behavior makes her look even uglier now. BITCH. I did NOT watch WH's funeral but I never had a chance to see Davy's. Why was everything so hush-hush and over so quickly? If he has any money left, the claws are coming out between widow and daughters. OH, how I HOPE the kids win.
No, many fans are all Hags thinking the same way with you!
I was sad about WH's death, but Davy's death was a devastating loss that many of his fans believe other people played a part in his death, namely the Psycho Wife. Knowing Davy's black widow filed divorce and then withdrew the divorce only a few months before his untimely death is reason for many to be Believers that psycho wife may had a plan for a bigger cash out from her marriage, more like her job, to Davy. Her marriage to Davy was no doubt a game in exchange of financial reward and any other opportunities she could milk Davy Jones for. When she couldn't stand playing the game and fulfilling her duty sexually she wanted to cash out of the deal and possibly she and her family came to the conclusion she could get a bigger Paychecko pay day if her marriage ended in Davy's death rather than in divorce. I'm sure she knew Davy had a prenup so she wouldn't get much from a divorce. I hope if anyone has facts to support this claim it will shine bright as the sun. The smell of psycho wife is pretty strong to ignore and anyone can see she did not love Davy Jones.

Peeps, the That's Why You're My Ex forum is no longer. The guy who started it no longer wanted to pay to keep the site going since it was mostly just Davy Jones fans posting on it. One of the girls started up a new page to bring the group back together on proboards a free forum. They go under the name Davy Jones Kitchen Sink Crew.
It would be in ALL the Monkees members best interest to make sure the abuser Pacheco does not get a penny from Monkees royalties! Many fans would not want to buy anything Monkees related! I hope the estate judge realises that! Too much circumstantial evidence showing Pacheco was a participating factor in Davy Jones untimely death with her abuse of him. She's clearly a gold digger!

Vonnegut is my favorite author of humor and irony. Do you know which work that quote is from; or maybe it was from an interview; just curious? In fact I need to see if he has a thread here; if not then that must be remedied. Brilliant, sensitive man and author who spent 40 years "committing suicide by Pall Mall", as he has reported. I can't imagine being so afraid of being alone that I would endure a bad relationship in order to avoid it.

I wasn't a big fan of the Monkees but I did like Davy Jones, especially the song, 'Daydream Believer'. Thanks for all the entertainment Davy, RIP.
