    Batman - TV Show

I couldn't find another thread on this subject...dead actors/actresses who were at least once a villian on the 1960's Batman TV series. From recollection I come up with...

    Frank Gorshin (Riddler #1)
    Cesar Romero (Joker)
    Burgess Meredith (Penguin)
    Art Carney (Archer)
    Victor Buono (King Tut)
    Roddy McDowell (Bookworm)
    Liberace (Chandell)
    Vincent Price (Egghead)
Milton Berle & his huge wanger (Louie The Lilac, & his huge wanger)
    Shelley Winters (Ma Parker)
    David Wayne (Mad Hatter)
    Otto Preminger (Mr. Freeze #2)
    Roger C. Carmel (Col. Gumm)
Carolyn Jones (Marsha, Queen Of Diamonds)
    George Sanders (Mr. Freeze #1)

    Feel free to add.

Tallulah Played Black Widow On Batman. She Appeared In 2 Episodes "black Widow Strikes Again" And "caught In The Spider's Den" The Episodes Aired Mar. 15 & 16 1967. And It Was The Last Tv Performance For Tallulah.i Checked Her Imdb Page.

    You're correct, Robert.

I tracked down more dead Bat-villians and I think this is all of them:

    Walter Slezak (Clock King)
    Ida Lupino (Dr. Cassandra)
    Rudy Valee (Lord Fogg)
Anne Baxter (Olga, Queen Of Diamonds)(Zelda The Great) Yep, 2 villians.
    Maurice Evans (Puzzler)

I'm surprised at how many are still alive such as John Astin (Riddler #2) and Ertha Kitt (Catwoman #2).

    caesar romero

I once had a dream about Caesar-
I dreamt he was on tv and there were clouds and silver all around him
There were older people all around him and he was singing the tune to 'Miss America'
I was watching this and marveling how he could perform and couldn't even tie his shoes anymore.
    Yeah-weird dream.

Has Eartha Kitt kicked yet? If not...how old IS she, anyways?

He was Mr. Freeze #1 and I had him down as still alive, but after further research, we add him to the list.

Eli Wallach was Mr. Freeze #3 and I believe he's still alive.

BTW, Sanders had better lines than "Ahnold" did in that stinker "Batman & Robin".

No wonder--with Sanders' silky, menacing voice he could make ANYTHING sound great.

The link I posted above to the Batman TV site does not list any of the many cameos...like famous folk opening a window while our heroes were in the midst of a Bat-climb up the side of building.

A long time ago I read that during the series' short life, mainly seasons 1 and 2, it became so hip to get in an episode that many actors and actresses called Dozier, wanting to be a villian. Dozier had an overflow of villian requests so he started the cameos, and even that wasn't enough to accomodate everyone.

The show was so hot that even the then chairman of the FCC showed up to a costume party in a Bat-suit.

I had no clue that Burgess Meredith was on the Batman show. But now that I think about it he was very "penguin" like...

I loved the fact that the show actually used it's onomotopias! This show is why I passed third grade language arts...because I could remember that "Bang" "Pow" were onomotopias. Still don't know that I spell that right!

I remember the Monkeys cameo on the show!

I really enjoyed watching Batman as a boy in the 60's. I remember there were some more "obscure" villians like Vincent Price as Eggman, etc. that I looked foward seeing...but I would say my favorite villian was Frank Gorshin as the Riddler. I liked his giggle and the riddles he left for Batman & Robin.
